Hotels: Roslyn Claremont & Harrison House

Thinking of these for hotels for guests. Sounds like HH has a pub for a post party maybe - Do they have brunch at either? Or is there somewhere to walk for brunch in Roslyn. From NJ & NYC - think Roslyn village is so cute but I don't know the area too well. Can you get to the Roslyn Clar. from the Roslyn train station?

My guests and myself will be staying at the Roslyn Claremont..but I dont know if you can walk from teh train station..sorry Im from jersey. I do know that there are supposed to be some nice restaurants within walking distance though. In Fact, the place where I am getting married is exactly next door and they have wonderful food. They are also a restaurant.( Its the George Washington Manor) Best of luck to you!!

aliciahelene - duh I have been to the George Washington Manor - that is when I saw Roslyn. I didn't think of that. I was there for a winter wedding and they did a wonderful job. Wedding was in the chapel and then party in a room with a big fireplace that was on. It was very cozy. They had nice ballroom chairs (I hate ugly chairs - my random wedding pet peave). Oh - there wasn't a coat check place in the chapel so if that is your set up that is the only thing I would change.

Oh wow..I never even thought of that! We are having a winter weddinga nd we are using teh chapel..hmm..I NEVER thought of that. I cant even imagine where I will put the guests coats. It is a quick ceremony..is it tacky to have them put it on their seats? Oh man,,.now Im stressin about that!

You have nothing to worry about there. No one normal will care!! But since you got a heads up just ask them if they can bring out a coat rack or something. They were great and moved the coats over I am pretty sure. Some old relatives asked for food that was not even on teh banquet menu and the GWM just brought a plate to their table!!!

Re: Hotels: Roslyn Claremont & Harrison House

We had our wedding at the HH and we and several of our guests stayed the weekend. They had a great time.

They do have a pub upstairs, a small bowling alley which is open late downstairs, an indoor pool/hot tub, raquetball courts, tennis courts, outdoor pool...etc.

They offer a free breakfast/brunch buffet from 7am to 11am to guests, and it was quite good (eggs, waffles, sausage, bacon, bagels, muffins, pastries, cereal, fruit, cottage cheese, oatmeal, etc. etc.).

You can pay to have a catered brunch in a private room, but we didn't think that was worth doing, I'm sure it would be good though.

Roslyn Claremont has the restaurant Christina's inside that does brunch. Beautiful hotel!

I'm getting married at the Claremont and everyone is staying there.

Christina's in the hotel is a great restaurant, but I think their breakfast is only 7-10 AM on the weekends...not a proper brunch. But as you know Geo Was is right next door. and you can walk to the little Village from the hotel where there are other places (i haven't scoped them all out yet myself).

We might do brunch with our group the next day too...so would be curious to hear what you decide.

TeeJay - the 2 rooms on the Web site are so nice - do you get a suite for having your party there? SOOO jealous.

Re: Hotels: Roslyn Claremont & Harrison House

We get bridal suite for free the night of our wedding. Yipee!

FH & I keep stopping by the Claremont after we signed the contract for the wedding--first to show his family, then my family, then for a Valentine's dinner, then for a wedding expo, etc.

I seriously thought the hotel people would think we were nuts or stalkers. But they are SOOO nice (esp Kevin Quinn the banquet manager) and accomodating every time we are there. If you do choose to have your guests stay there, they will be treated very well.
