Anyone using a hotel in the Smithtown/Hauppauge/Stony Brook area for their block of rooms? Suggestions on good places? I was looking at the Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook (by the college) but am open to suggestions.
I did a room block with the Courtyard Marriott in Ronkonkoma. Less than 15 minutes from Watermill, rates were reasonable and if we end up having more than 10 rooms booked, they provide a free shuttle to and from Watermill. I worked with Gina and she was very helpful and patient. I've stayed there before and my aunt always stays there when she comes in from Chicago.
We are using Hampton Inn Islandia. It was the closest hotel to our venue in Smithtown. They also provide a shuttle (but will only make 4 trips total, which means I may need an extra van) if you book 10 rooms. I think I spoke with Linda. The woman I originally spoke too wasn't working there when I set up the room block.
Try the marriott on the lie in hauppauge or the residence inn on 454 (not sure if they do hotel blocks). Also if you don't wanna do the leg work, check out kleinfeld hotel blocks and they do all the hotel searching and quoting for you and it's free!
I've booked with hilton garden inn of stony brook, the hotel is brand new and they gave me a great rate of $128 per night, if I have 20 rooms booked my room is free!
I used the Islandia Marriott and loved them, they were very accommodating but no shuttle to Watermill.
