Hotels with bars..PLEASE HELP!
Our wedding reception is at the Westbury Manor and cocktails begin at 12:30, so the reception will be over at 5:30. The wedding will be held on a Sat in Nov.My fiance is from Ireland and so are a lot of his friends. He wants to do something afterwards, which I agree..
The problem is that he wants to go back to Queens and go to a bar there. Which will be great for his friends and family, but not good for mine (and mine makes up about 3/4 of the wedding guests). He says that if they want to spend time with us then they will go where we want...
Also not thrilled with going to a crappy bar in my wedding dress and getting beer soaked into it..
Beleive it or not this has been our only fight...I just think it is not smart to have people who have been drinking and try to get them all to drive 45 minutes to an hour to Queens in traffic just to make about 40 people happy (which doesn't include me). What about the 100 other people who are my family.. and friends who drove up from Baltimore and Washington, DC.
I need a hotel with a bar that is near by or I need to find a bar and hotel is near by...I know my family and if the only alternative is to go to Queens then they will just go home.. HELP !!

Hey Regina! I am actually having the same problem! Well, kinda - we're trying to figure out what to do after our reception ends at 6pm. Mom wants to have an after party, but we're not sure where. The Marriott in Uniondale has a bar - we were going to check that place out.
Also the Marriott Residence Inn in Plainview - maybe kinda far from WM, though? If I come across any others on our search I will be sure to let you know!!

How about the Inn at Great Neck? They have a really nice new jazz lounge in there.. Also the Marriott in Uniondale is fabulously nice.. the Garden City Hotel is great, you have Blu inside...

I don't remember who posted it but someone recently had an after party at the Inn at Fox Hollow. They had chips and a cash bar.

Re: Hotels with bars..PLEASE HELP!
I used the Holiday Inn in Plainview. It was a requirement for me to have a bar in the hotel I used to block rooms. I also had a brunch the next morning in the hotel.

You can do what we are doing... I know it sounds really wrong but we are throwing our own party in the Bridal Suite of our room.

we are staying at Garden City hotel ( have blocked rooms off and got speical rate) after with a bunch of family and friends for same reason, dont want to go home and then go to some local bar in my wedding dress.you can also try the Fox Hollow Inn, we stayed there last may after a wedding was really nice, I think we paid like $160 without tax for the block rate.
good luck

I'm not sure how close the Garden City hotel is but I heard they have a really good club and bar.
