Re: house hunting

Good luck girls I was in your situation last year. Everything is so expensive and then when you find something you like you have to worry about people out biding you. Thats what happened to us last year on house we found in Commack.

Instead of a house we bought a condo and plan on staying there for at least two more years. It is good for now, but I really would like to buy a house. This will have to wait until after the wedding.

Re: house hunting

We have been looking since Febuary & I can honeslty say that we have seen over 130 properties. LoL..its a good this that we are both pretty patient people but sometimes it does get frustrating.. You see the almost perfect house and there is always a very big flaw... GRRR!!!

but patience is verture and I am positive that we will find what we are looking for soon. Im keeping my fingers cross!!

Re: house hunting

Buying a house is the most stressful experience ever. Even after you find the house the whole process is stressful.

I bought a house 2 years ago and it was hard but now it was so worth it. In a few years when you see all the money you made it makes you feel great.

Try to stay calm. You have no control so it is what it is.

If you ladies need a mortgage I work for Countrywide so let me know.

Good luck.

FH and I are in contract to buy our first house now in Franklin Square. We are closing the end of this month or beginning of June.

We got very lucky. We looked at five houses in one day and made an offer on one and our offer was accepted.

Good Luck to all the house hunters!

Re: house hunting

I think certain areas of Queens are more expensive, but for the most part LI is more expensive and also you need to factor in the property taxes... they are WAY higher at least in Nassau then in Queens.. its painful!

you can get a mansion in other areas of the country for what you get a 2 bedroom up here fore....

Re: house hunting

We just bought a house, and I lost weight from the process. SOOO stressful! I couldn't eat anything. It's so damn expensive. the whole process is hard. For some reason I stressed myself out over locking in the rate on the mortgage - should we lock or shouldn't we... and I work in a bank !
