I am going insane, we have been engaged for over month now and i want to surround myself in everything wedding, but i still can not!!
I apologize for the venting, i just feel like i am about to go crazy. We are trying to buy out first house, and the process is awful, we were an hour away form signing a contract today when we were called and told the seller went with someone else, and i am frustrated b/c all I want to do is plan out wedding!!!
Thanks for listening, and i promise when you all go through the house buying stuff if you havent already I will be here to tell you it will be ok and that you need to locate a bathtub, a smutty romance novel, and a lot of bubbles. If ya'all get a few seconds plse send happy house hunting thoughts my way, we could totally use it.:

Sometimes everything feels very overwhelming. If you need somewhere to lean--we're always here.
Good luck--things will have to start looking up eventually!

Re: House hunting vs wedding...
Trust me- I understand 100%. FH and I were waiting on a house that was going into foreclosure for 9 months. We put a little money and work into it already to get approved for FHA loan. 2 weeks before closing, when we were finally allowed to have an inspector come in- he told us there was about $75,000 MORE than originally estimated worth of damage to the home. We had to walk away. We found another house a week later, fell in love, the man was great. A week before closing he calls us and said he didn't want to sell it anymore But at that point contracts were signed and our lawyer and real estate agent flipped out. The agent threatened to sue him too! In the end the man kept the deal, we got the house! But along the way, I lost 22 pounds bc of stress from the homes. It's not fun.
Hence why wedding is booked so far away! We didn't want to drown wi house and wedding all at once
Everything happens for a reason and it's sometimes hard to see through the rainstorm but remember that the rainbow will come out in the end!

Kristy, Thank you thank you thank you!! I am so sorry you had to go thorugh that, but i am so glad you were able to share that with me, this has been very hard on us, and i know we will get through it but it is so much all at once.
In my heart of herats i know everything happens for a reason, and when we are sitting in our living room, we will know why we didnt end up with this house.
Thank you so much ladies for being there to turn to. Makes a world of difference!

i know, easier said than done.. you can't just relax. you are not in an atypical situation. And as much as everyone says 'Buyer's market' I'm like, 'For who?! we have great jobs and very limited options' It's harder now to get a loan bc of what had happened in real estate and it is very competitive now.
In the end, what's meant to be will happen. Just breathe! If house is too much, focus on wedding and then flip flop it

Re: House hunting vs wedding...
I don't envy you guys at all!!!! I can only imagine how trying house hunting can be.
FH and I plan on moving down south (prob North Carolina) after the wedding. As much as I don't want to move away from my parents and friends (most of my family moved off LI), I just cannot see myself buying a $400,000 house that needs a crap load of work and pay tens of thousands in taxes!!
A friend of mine just moved down there and her house is AMAZING, great neighborhood and NO SNOW!!!

Re: House hunting vs wedding...
The main reason i decided on a long (3 +) year engagement was because I am so busy with work, and other aspects of my life that i KNEW planning a wedding would not be #1 on my list. I totally can relate on how all I wanna do is plan the wedding, but i just dont have the time! Good thing is we all totally have plenty of time!!! It will get better!!!!
My FH and i totally lucked out with our house. His father remarried and basically the new wife was living in manhattan he had his house in the Bronx. He decided to move downtown into the wifes place and let us buy the house for A LOT less than manket value. My FH has a decent job, and i'm just a resident making dirt money, so we would have NOT be able to afford a house any other way. That all being said, the move and expenses are still a lot on us. I was away from the boards for a while due to it. I probably didnt do ANY wedding planning for 4-6 months and it STUNK! I'm just not getting back into the swing of it!!!!
Things will get better!!! One day at a time!!!

Re: House hunting vs wedding...
i can completely understand the emotional toll the house-buying process can take on you. after we were outbid on the first house we wanted, we fell in love with our dream home. we closed on it a couple months before our wedding, but for about 2 solid months leading up to the closing, there was one obstacle after another standing in our way. wedding planning was basically put on hold - and i know a lot of brides on here probably thought i was crazy for having so many wedding things still on my 'to-do' list only a couple months before our wedding - but at the end of the day, things have a way of working out... they always do.
you have PLENTY of time to plan your wedding - you might *want* to start now, but it really is NOT necessary. as stressful as it is to buy a home, at the end of the day it is worth it. and you will appreciate the one you get so much more considering all the challenges you will have to go through to get it. houses, weddings... these are good things to have in your life... try and keep your chin up! :)
