House or Apartment??

For those of you not living with FH - How far in advance do you girls plan on going house/apartment hunting before the wedding?? I am a litlle less then a year away from the wedding and not sure when I will start ( if it's too soon or am I just wasting time)??

We are renovating his parents basement appt right now. But after we get married we are going to house hunt after two years :)

Apartment then Condo, we will most likely rent for a year to save additional funds for the condo we've always dreamed of having...yada yada yada

FH has already started looking for apartments... but I rent a house with my sister and another girl so I'd feel bad just leaving like that.

We'll probably REALLY start looking about 6 months before the wedding... I'd like to be living together for about 2 months before we get married. I feel like with all the last minute wedding stuff that has to get done it's easier if you're together!

We were talking about this the other day. I wanted to start looking in December, he said to wait until after the craziness of the holidays is over...so we'll probably look late Jan/early Feb.

we're getting an apt in my parents 2 family house, it's empty right now so we;re going to start renovating it this summer so I can buy furniture in Jan and start filling it up

We're house hunting right now. Especially if you want to buy instead of renting, it takes a few months to close. So maybe it will be better to settle down in one place before you get married.

We just realized that we HAVE to move in like 2 months so our search just officially began.... I passed by my first apt today on my lunch break... the neighborhood was horrendous... like you stepped into another world...

So apt #1 - OUT! onto #2... anyone know how lynbrook is???

I think that we will be house hunting a few months before the wedding....I don't think we will be staying on the island go up further north but have to be within 1 hour for FH commute into Manhattan.

we both live in apt in NYC, but looking to buy a house after the wedding

we'll prob start looking after the holidays but i don't plan on moving in until after the wedding. Prob just gradually bring my stuff there and then after we get home from our HM or wedding weekend i'll officially move in

That's what I wanted to do, start renovating and furnishing before the wedding but FH is saying that maybe its taking on too much at one time including expenses and wants to wait abit. Especially since we won't be living in it until after the wedding
