House Search- xpost

Opinions/thoughts on the following areas:

Lynbrook *** I would love to know more about this area. Anyone from here? Very interested.
New Hyde Park
Oceanside
Mineola
Great Neck
Rockville Center

We want to stay in Queens or move to Western Nassau. Thanks in advance. Can't wait to really get into the house search, though I'm worried and feel like I don't know anything about this!

new hyde park is a good area
it is split into 3 school districts:
Sewanika, new hyde park, and herricks
i think herricks has the best reputation, then new hyde park and last sewanika

actually Lynbrook has one of the best school districts in the country. It wins awards all the time. I grew up there.

That said it's an incorporated village and you'll get slammed w taxes...plus they have lots of village rules. you cant park on the street at night. You WILL be ticketed. You cant pout your garbage out early. You have to have a garage. so if you garage falls down you HAVE to rebuild it.

I'd stay far away from incorporated villages. Private police means LOTS of taxes.

Oceanside is nice too. Taxes are high too. What sd's are you looking at?
