Re: houseofbrides.com
STAY AWAY. NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
Funny I should see this today - I canceled my order through HouseofBrides.com not 1 hour ago, and I will never look back. Never have I had such horrendous customer service and treatment. It's certainly the first time I've been told off by someone in a 'customer service' position - and hung up on. I never got a confirmation email from them for my order (placed a month ago) -- After calling almost daily for two weeks and finally speaking to the only person with an answer, I asked why I was never connected to her before, I was told, 'Probably because we have other customers besides you.' You think I'm kidding.
They claim to not have processed my order (remember: placed a month ago) due to a discrepancy between the address on file with my credit card and the billing address I placed on my order form.... Yet they have debited the $555 from my bank account (without the correct billing address on file?????). SHADY. RUDE. I never received e-mail notification of any of this - an e-mail source I specifically watched for a notice from for a MONTH! When I called, I was told over and over that I would be called back with an answer 'within the hour' - have yet to receive a call from anyone at House of Brides.
And *almost* funny - the first time I called, I was told by another representative that I hadn't gotten my confirmation due to the Chinese New Year... No research done. Sound like a made-up answer to anyone else?
I just hung up from ordering my dresses from a local store - the place where I originally saw them - for a little more money and rush delivery, as my wedding is May 17th of this year. When I mentioned to this store's salesperson that I needed some emergency help and that I'd had atrocious treatment from an online vender, she immediately asked, 'Did you order from House of Brides?' Wish I'd known. Only hope I can get my money back now, but will go to any length to get every cent back from them. Unbelievable.
Stay away.

If i had $100 for every time I heard that excuse in the past month my wedding would be entirely paid off. it's ridiculous that people think we (brides) will just accept that as an answer.

Re: houseofbrides.com
One of my good friends ordered her BM dress from there and recommended I do that for my wedding.
Besides that, I've heard nothing.

It has NOTHING to do with anything - that's the point. It's a holiday to some, and people think it's a valid excuse .... they'd be better off saying 'Well, it's Monday, and I do not do any work on Monday.'

Re: houseofbrides.com
My bridal salon had told me that no orders go in or out of China for the first two weeks of Feb because of the Chinese New Year. That is why she had told me to order in January to give it the extra time. I am inclined to believe that it is true, since it is a very important holiday to the Chinese people. ( I say this b/c I have a very good friend who is Chinese and I have heard about her traditions)
I am sorry to hear you had such an awful time though. Hopefully you can get your money back- there still was no need for them to be rude to you!!

Re: houseofbrides.com
During chinese new year they don't work. That means China closes their factories for 2 wks. Now if your order was in the middle of it then you would have to wait for their return. It is important you stay on top of this if your wedding is in a month or two. I would call the designer directly to find out the status even if your going thru a shop.
I haven't dealt with houseofbrides.com but i have dealt with bestbridalprices.com and had a great turn out.
