I've been giving most of my friends a new houseplant in a pretty pot. It's not too expensive though. You ould do that a nd a gift card to get somehtign they need - BBB, Home Depot, Loews are always good places the new homeowners visit ALOT!

Re: Housewarming Gift help?!
I have bought my friends really nice doormats from William Sonoma and they can be momogrammed and stuff but I think they were around $75.
My friend bought me a really nice set of BBQ tools and a local Zagats (for LI - since I always have the NYC ones!). I though that was cute and creative.
Other than that I have mostly rec'd gift cards to home depot and such stores.

crate and barrell have such cute things....I just bought my friend a chip n' dip set with a margarita pitcher. she loved it.
If she has a registry, I would look at that too.

A bottle of wine and a gift certificate to either Home Depot or Lowes. I can't tell you how those gift certs. to HD or Lowes came in handy!!! (especially when it seems like you are there every weekend when you buy a home :-)

Re: Housewarming Gift help?!
I just bought DH's cousin a margarita pitcher and several glasses from Pier 1 and margarita mix and salt from Williams and Sonoma. I bought my friend a cool watering can from Pottery Barn and attached a $50 g.c. to Home Depot (you could do Franks too or somewhere they can get plants and outdoor things for landscaping).

home goods has a lot of nice things and they are resonable- you could make her a basket with a bunch of different stuff.

Considering the prices of homes these days, I vote for a HD or Lowes gift card - that is always so appreciated during the move-in period.
When we first moved it, Michele bought me a gardening set, which is also a really nice idea.

You can attach the gift card to a Kitchen Bunny. Claud made me one and I have it on my stove still.
