I need ideas for a housewarming present for a good friend!!

well, me personally i like crafty type things but my DH would say GIFT CERTIFICATE - Home Depot, Lowe's etc, Pier One etc!

Hmmm I would have loved a bucket filled with all cleaning materials--a mop, sponges, Lysol, etc.--that stuff is all expensive initially! Or a food basket with basic food items to have in? Or a plant?

I agree gift cetificates are always fun. I love getting ones to Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Plants, candles, gift cards to home improvement stores.

When DH and I moved into our house, we appreciated the latter much more than the others.

* bottles of liquor (help stock that bar!)

* gift certificate to: local Supermarket, Home Depot, Pottery Barn, Pier One

* A Basket of Groceries - cleaning supplies, non perishables, spices, macaroni, rices, etc ...

* A Basket of Groceries from the Butcher - steaks, chicken, hamburgers to stock their freezer or order from Omaha Steaks

* A Basket of toiletrees - shampoo, soap, shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, asprin, alchohol, peroxide, nail polish remover, lotion, loofah

* A Basket for the bedroom - massage oil, candles, book on massages, a romantic CD

You can do a basket, either one filled with candles(all different types) , a candle snuffer,
a decorative plate with some river rocks to put them on. Or a gourmet basket with a theme say Italian, you can put some pasta, sauce, olive oil, a bottle of wine, a couple of wine glasses, some biscotti etc...

I like the idea of a theme basket, like the ones that have been suggested. There are so many possibilites, based on what your friends like.
