I do this for fun sometimes... well not really fun cause it sort of depresses me how much housing costs in the NY area... but since fh and I are not leaving NY anytime soon, our only hope is to move to suffolk county.. which in some areas is ike a different state
anyhoo... here we go..
HERE- nassau county.. massapequa. 499k
THERE- suffolk county farmingville 499k
both have 4 bedrooms 2.5 baths.. and similiar taxes.. amazing isn't it..
sigh...

oh there are def houses under 400k in nassau.. i know mine will sell for under 400k.. i'm more or less looking at what u get for the price. regardless of what the price is.. if only u can get past that darn commute!!
i guess it's the equivalent of buying one of those poconos homes for 399k. (the ones they advertise in the back of the post and the daily news) and then sitting on interstate 80 every morning for 3 hours trying to get to work...

Re: housing related: Here and there...
FH and I are trying to decide if we want to move to NY (LI or NYC) or stay in the midwest where I currently go to law school.
I don't know housing prices for the most part but a large house on his parents street was just listed for $199k asking price and his parents were shocked that they had the audacity to ask that much for it.
FH and I currently share a very large 2br/2bath apartment, hardwood floors, completely redone, W/D in unit, gated parking, dishwasher, bay windows etc etc etc apartment for less than my friend pays for her studio in NYC..... buuuuuuut then again we're in the midwest, so it's a tradeoff.
