Houston Wedding Review

I am back from Houston from a wedding and I just have a few things to mention and ask...

My friend looked amazing, even after she started crying when she walked down the stairs (ceremony and reception were at a country club) and saw her husband. It was a wonderful night.

1. They had a band that was really good. But FH, me and the rest of the people that were at our table had a hard time talking. We were practically screaming! I think this was due to the fact that we were two tables up from where the band was set up. Does this normally happen? Is there anyway to control this?

2. They also had a dj which which was fine and all. But what irked me was that after the band came back from their break, while the dj was still playing tunes, the keyboard player started playing the keyboard!! I found that so rude on top of the fact that people were dancing away including myself. Do bands do this after they come back from a break or was he just being obnoxious?

3. Her bouquet was beautiful! I kept staring at it... And I couldn't even take a pix b/c FH bought batteries from a gas station that didn't work! So I was upset about that. But I have a question on the bouquet. We noticed and we picked it up and looked at it to see up close (we are nosy!) the stems weren't completely covered and FH saw that only about 9 stems were sticking out from the bottom. But the bouquet had over 2 dozen roses so it didn't make sense to me. How did the florist get those other 21 roses in the bouquet? FH says they use a sponge and soak it in water and place short stem roses in it. The bouquet was heavy too! Do florists do this because its cheaper to do or easier, or I don't know what. Just wondering...

4. One recommendation I would make is that if you have a lot of out of town guests and its within your budget, provide transportation for them to the ceremony and the reception. The groom's parents rented a bus for the weekend b/c many of his family members are from Kentucky and it turned out cheaper than flying for all of them. So the day of the wedding the groom said that we could all jump in the bus since they had so much room. All the others meaning the other out of towners that came from other parts of the country. It worked out perfectly because none of us had to worry about the drinking and driving thing. And it avoided 6 cars with two people in each vehicle going to the same place. The bride said that had the groom's parents not rented the bus for the weekend, they would have gotten transportation for everyone anyway.

5. At the end of the night one of the employees of the club was helping hand out rose petals to everyone. It was so humid and HOT. It was 90 degrees at 12:35 am!! So I went back inside to cool off till the couple came out. I started chatting with her and we started talking about the rose petal basket for some reason (I can't remember why now) but she said this was the best idea anyone had so far. A lot of other couples were using the cones to hold the petals. When it came time to hand them out, it got messy. Plus people didn't know what to do with the cone so some brought them back inside or others without realizing dropped them on the floor. The petals in the basket idea was simple yet pretty and people just stuck their hands in the basket and grabbed petals. This is just a much easier way and cheaper form of doing the same thing.

All in all I had a blast. Especially since I haven't seen the bride in over 3 years and she got to meet my FH.
I hope I have helped and if anyone can answer my question thanks so much in advance.
