Anyone use the tool the budgeter to figure out money? If so how accurate was it? After looking at how much people are spending for each thing on here, Im not sure it is so accurate. We are really trying to stick to budget and being so early on I want to make sure I dont overspend on something.
Thanks :)

Re: How accurate is the
Truthfully, the tool is useful for weddings everywhere else except New York. It told me I could spend $40 for each person's meal. I looked at it, laughed, and got over it. It does help to use it as a starting point but I really didn't stick to it. I just used the numbers to compare my florist, dj, and photo prices.

Re: How accurate is the
It's kinda accurate, but keep in mind we way over spend in NY/tri-state area. Also, it break everything down, when our RHs have things packaged together. For example, they have reception, food, drinks, and cake all broken up and our RHs (for the most part) have that all in one price. I used it to keep track of everything for my over all budget and if I was over spending.
If you ever wonder how much you should spend on something just ask us!

Yeah, unfortunately NY/LI is a skewed market!

Re: How accurate is the
yeah the fact that they group everything together really messes with the percentages. The rest of the country doesn't do weddings like us... FH has lived in Washington state for the past 10 years, and he had no idea people did weddings like they do here! He was trying to help keep us in budget and was like well, maybe instead of a full bar we just do wine and beer or something? I just looked at him and was like oh thanks for the suggestion hun, but we've got this covered!!
I did get to manipulate it so that it covered everything in one category and adjusted everything else, but I didn't find it user friendly so I gave up on it.

I use the wedding budgeter on WeddingWire.com. It's pretty good and let's you change/add items and numbers if you know costs.

Re: How accurate is the
I used WeddingWire's Budget tool. I put my budget in and it gave em suggestions. It's a little off, BUT what I like about it is that you can delete items and then reallocate that money elsewhere, so like you said, it lists food, and reception site, bar, etc seaprately, I deleted everything except for venue and reallocated all of that money to the RH. I also knew I wasn't going to spend a lot on certain items, so I was able to move some money from there to other items. It helps you move money around easily and I like it.
