I tried to go in this morning. As soon as I almost slid through a red light, I decided to turn around and go home.

horrible in Queens ... I spun out a little on the way to Hunter's Point thank goodness no one was near me
Scary!! I'm glad no one was near you too. Don't you have 4 wheel drive too? It must be bad. Hopefully it will be better by 10:00 when I'm leaving.
Yes I have a Jeep Sport ... 4 wheel drive. Just take it slow, even if the roads look OK. The roads were fine for me and then all of a sudden...slide slide slide. All I kept thinking was 'Oh F%^K, please don't let a truck come barreling by. Once I was stopped at the light I watched 3-4 cars behind me slide in next to me. I just sat tight and prayed for a soft impact. Thankfully everyone stopped before hitting anyone else.
BE SAFE ... DRIVE SLOW!

I will. Thanks. I'm more worried about tonight. I have to work til 9:00. I'm afraid everything will freeze again. I guess the roads won't be so crowded at least. ugh!!!

Re: how are the roads so far?
FH's car isn't 4 wheel drive, but it's usually OK in the snow. His school had a 90 minute delay today, so he left his house 2.5 hrs early - he's still about 20 exits away, and has to be there at 10.
eta: Normally a 45 min drive, took him 4.5 hrs to get home in traffic last night.

Re: how are the roads so far?
A normal ride for DH coming home is 1 1/2 hours and last night it took him 3 hours. This morning, an hour ride took him a 1 1/2 hours to get to work. Everyone just needs to be careful and drive slow.

Same here!! The parkway was a parking lot. I started out and decided to turn around and come home. I would have missed my first appointment by the time I got there anyway. Thankfully my job is flexible and I can just make up the time on Friday!! Drive carefully everyone, one minute the roads look clear the next its a sheet of ice!! And its FREEZING!! I thought I was gonna die pumping my gas this morning!!
