My FIL did them for me on his computer using a nice font. They came out beautiful!

This is what we are doing too. I am ordering extra envelopes to test with.

Ditto on that!

However, I've heard great reviews on inkspun.com - they're affordable, and an alternative to hand calligraphy and DIY.

I used inkspun - Bill works quickly and is great with matching ink colors and fonts. He's in Westchester so you do have to mail your blank envelopes up to him and he'll mail them back to you (he won't charge you the postage for mailing them back).

DEFINATELY!!!! Also an idea for all you ladies getting ready to do invites. Order extra envelopes for invitiations that might be returned in the mail for incorrect addresses and such. We had a few of those and didn't that aspect into account. luckily we had a little less than a handful of envelopes left over.

My FMIL is printing them herself with the laserjet...we used that for our STD's and it came out pretty good...we wanted to save $$ somewhere.

I hear inkspun is really good too.

My mom did all the writing...She has beautiful handwriting!!! I was so happy that I didn't have to spend $$ on them! Plus it was bonding time for us

using www.afineletter.com for calligraphy (only have outer envelopes since I did pocketfold invites) - they are recommended on theknot.com as being cheap but good.

I will most likely be using inkspun.

I am thinking of doing offset labels like these.

they were featured in Martha. I know labels are a no-no but these look so cute! and they were in Martha - so it can't be all that bad.

I did them on the computer. Easy cheesy, and the ink and fonts matched the invite.
2 pieces of advice:
Use a J feed (as opposed to a U feed) printer. It is less likely to mangle the envelopes.
Do your guest list in excel and use the 'envelope' function to import the names and addresses into word for printing. You'll only have to type all the info in once, and it makes the printing task go really fast.

I did have the return address on the back flap done by the printer. My home printer could not handle the flap.

My hand calligraphy was $2.75 for outer and inner with BLACK ink. I think the place where I had mine done charges $1.00 (or $1.25) for outer and inner if done on computer and it looks REALLY good. FM me if you want their number.
