um, I bought my cardbox on ebay?

I guess I'm not doing much to cut my budget. That's not to say that I shouldn't be doing something!

we are having a very small wedding.. between 60-80 people

not having limos because we are getting married at RH

other than that.. everything adds up pretty fast into a lot of $$$$

DIY: Invites, card box, and centerpieces

Not having a Limo, and possibly video.

we are trying to spend as little as possible on invites, no favors or personalized napkins etc. Probably no limos or if anything just one and cheapest possible. Im not cutting on video or photo, lighting or CP's bec those are important to me. Im tryiing to cut on the little stuff.

I am going cheap on photo/video but kind of debating getting rid of video altogether. I need to see the quotes I am getting. I am going cheap on the flowers as well. I wanted to cut the limo out since I am getting married at RH but my children would be bummed so I think I am getting one. I am also going to do a lot of DIY like the save the dates and card box and menus and stuff like that.

We're not doing limos either. We also cut down on the guest list a ton and are not allowing anyone unless married or in the bridal party to bring a guest.

Re: How are you cutting your budget

We got a good deal on the RH because of the day of the week and it being a holiday wedding.
We splurged on photos, but our package does not include albums, we'll have more money for that later on.
We did get video, but we went with a less expensive package to keep within budget.
Everything else from here isn't too expensive, those were the most important things to us. We don't want fancy lighting or an MC, just a DJ that can make a few announcements. I have a strict budget for flowers, so I'll probably only do small low CPs and put a few candles around them. We will use my bouquet as flowers for the sweetheart table, and I'm making a fake arrangement for the card table (nobody stares at those close up anyway). We won't decorate the ceremony, it's outdoors with plenty of natural decor! I also refuse to spend more than $1000 on my dress. And of course vistaprint! Will probably get invitations done through them, or I might DIY if I can find one I like!
You just have to figure out what you have to spend then allocate it according to what's most important to you, what's necessity and what's luxury, and then stick to it!

I got really lucky and right now everything I had budgeted is under budget. It also helped that FFIL is paying for our photographer/videographer. Im so glad I picked to get married when I did if I was having a summer wedding I would be so over budget. There really isnt anything Im cuting from my budget.

Re: How are you cutting your budget

For starters, we are not inviting everyone in the world to our wedding. When we first sat down to discuss the guest list, FH and I both agreed that our wedding should consist of both our families and those cllose friends that have really been there for us or that we actually still talk to regularly (no inviting anyone we may have been friends with way back when but really don't hang out with or talk to much).

No extras that are not necessary - we are going to throw in a lot of stuff into the reception right away that is not a necessary component to a wedding. If after we realize we have room in our budget for some other things, we'll think about adding them in then, but our $$ is going towards the important things first (RH, DJ, Photo, etc).

ALOT of searching. If I find something I like, I'm going to exhaust my efforts to find the best deal before purchasing.

We cut video. We both know this is something that we will wind up spending a lot of money on but we really will only watch it one time and that's it. My uncle made a video from what he shot from my brother's wedding and I honesty loved watching that video more than the professional one they paid for (and they felt the same way) so I'm going to ask him to do the same for us.

Re: How are you cutting your budget

Our wedding is going to be during a holiday weekend so that saved us some money. We also cut down on the guest list (mostly I cut down since I was the one with 200 people!) We decided on an A list and a B list. Friends who aren't married or in a deep relationship, can't bring a guest. Sorry..I'm not paying for ur date's meal ha!. Also I'm using the centerpieces provided by the reception hall and pay the extra for the flowers for the outdoors ceremony.

I agree with the videographer situation. I work in media and I see how some of these videographers jack up the prices for these dvds that u can do at home. FH and I decided to ask FH's aunt's friend (who is a videographer) to tape the wedding for us (for a discount
of course) and give us the raw video and I'll edit it myself!

DIY the invitations, STDs and menus!

Setting a price on my dress (that I might break..oops) and lots and lots of research on vendors! That's why I'm on LIW! You girls are the best!

We are negotiating our tales off and doing a lot of research on vendors. The research definitely helps, cause if you look hard enough you can find what you are looking for in your price range. I'm looking into DIY votive holders, I really want our monogram on them and cant find the color i am looking for.

Yep, research. That's definitely the best offense.

we're not doing all the little bs personalied stuff napkins, aisle runner, water bottles, petal cones, cry packs, things like that

A lot of stationary stuff (menus, escort cards, direction cards) is included with the RH and wedding cake and groom's cake too, we neg some things with the RH...

We're doing simple limos, just for us and BP, plain Lincolns

Nixing programs at the church... really, who gives a crap, right?

Trying to convince FH into letting me DIY the invites.. he has NO CONCEPT what invites cost or what DIY really means... he thinks they're gonna look like an arts and crafts project but I explained to him today just what postage is going to cost and he nearly fell off his chair, so I think I'm making some headway.

We're not giving each other gifts.

We're going to register for things like our cake server set, flutes, cake topper, guestbook so we don't have to buy them ourselves.

You know thats a great idea! Registering for cake server set, flutes etc. Instead of registering for yet another pot set or martini mixer! I didnt think of that! Great idea
