How are you paying for the wedding?

Hi all,
I was wondering how most people pay for the reception-cash or c.c? I am asking because I was hoping I could use paying in cash as a bargining tool.

Our RH didn't take cc's for payment so we had no other option but to pay cash. I *believe* most RHs are like this.

be careful paying for things in cash for the wedding. no paper trail can cause problems down the line. If your vendor will give you a deal by paying cash try to negotiate so at least your downpayments are on a CC that way god forbid something happens you have records of your payments.

Actually, you get a receipt for each payment you make. Most RHs only accept cash payments (some will accept a cc for the down payment only).

We are paying with cash. All of our deposits have also been cash and we got a receipt each time.

check for rh,and cash for most of my vendors but i have it in writting each payment

we usually pay with cash always getting receipts. the last payments are all going to be check though

we did a combo between cc, cash and check,

i just made sure we got a reciept everytime, we paid a payment

If they require you to pay cash, I'd negotiate on the tax. They're not going to pay it so why should you.

Try to only pay tax on the part you charge or pay check.

cash and debit/check - we dont want to put anything on a credit card - we have 0 credit card debt and hope to keep it that way - if we cant afford to pay cash for it then we just arent having it

We are paying cash for the whole wedding except the honeymoon. We request signed receipts with all our payments to create the paper trail in case something goes wrong. :)

True. No paper trail but most places only take cash. I would just as for a recipet everytime you drop off $.

We are paying cash for everything, it does have it's advantages, you can really bargin, also you do have a paper trail, I keep my ATM receipts & staple them to the matching vendor receipt that i paid for with that cash.

most of the halls we visited would only accept cash or check for payments. besides--no matter what they always give you a receipt for it.

i dont' think we put a single deposit down on a CC at all...we just used cash or check. i liked it that way.

I didn't mean to cause such a stir. I've never dealt with a vendor that 'only took cash'. All my vendors have required CC or bank check. Guess I'm just out of the norm.

Most rh don't expect credit cards. Atleast all the ones i visited do not. They may take it for the downpayment but thats it. I know ours only take credit card for the down payment and the rest is in cash or check and final payment much be cash or cashier check.

Most of my vendors requiered cash or a certified check. they dont even take credit cards. So Im not sure how much you can use that as a bargaining tool-but def wont hurt to ask!!!!

Some let you do downpayments on CC. I did this for my hall as well. And my DJ let us pay the whole thing by CC because we paid them like 4 weeks before the wedding.
