How are you picking who will get a memory candle?

Are you going to do your Uncle that past 10 years ago?

I just have no idea who should get a candle?

I think we'll just be doing a memory candle for FH's father. But we will have a little table set aside where this will sit, and on it we'll also put picture of grandparents who've passed, cousins who were lost too early, and other people who we want to think of as 'being there' to celebrate with us.

We are doing my those few who were incredibly dear to us and we wish they of all people could have been with us.

so, we are having my grandparents on one

and his maternal GM, paternal GF and maternal aunt.

I am doing a memory candle for my Grandfather and my grandmother who passed away... I was also thinking of attaching there pictures to my bridal bouquet...(not sure on the pictures)

This was hard for us Elly, but we decided on the people with whom were closest to us. So we're doing my brother Thomas, my Aunt Sissy on my side, and Darren's Aunt Pat and Aunt Diane. All of whom were really important staples in both of our lives.

Where do you typically place the memory candle? At the ceremony or reception, or both?

The wedding I went to last week, the priest said something about the deceased ones then the couple lighted the candle.

It really STINKS !!! that I have to have one for my mom
I just dont feel like a stupid candle will make up for the fact that she is not there...nor is it significant enough to honor her.

I bought a large pillar candle and will have all the pictures around it.

People that we included are:

Both my grandmother's
FH grandma and grandpa
FH uncle - passed away about year and half ago
My uncle - passed away over 10 years ago - but is my god father
My dad's father - passed away when my dad was 18 - so i never met him
My nieghbor's grandmother - sounds odd, but we are very close to the family
And my doggie that we put to sleep 8 months ago - I'm so sad that he won't be around for my wedding

I think there might be one or two more on FH side - but I'm not sure.

We're doing one for each of our grandfathers. That passed away (my mom's dad and his dad's dad)

I don't think anything could ever make up for not having your mother there (or any parent for that fact) You have to do what you have to do to make sure that you have a peice of mind. If a candle is not enough for you, there are many other ways you can make sure to remember her and know that she is there. No matter what your mother is watching over you, and will be at your wedding. Did you read this post???

it's a tuff call...

i'm doing one for my grandmother and grandfather b/c we were so close and one for a very special friend of mine who passed away very young and it really impacted my life...

other than that, i'm pretty much leaving it at that for my side b/c there are so many relatives but these are people i was VERY close with or felt a special way towards... FH will do the same thing with who he was close to like his g-parents.

just try to think of it like that and you can do one candle for your side's people and one for your FH's sides people and list a few names if you want.... HTH

Well in the past 2 years I lost 5 relatives and FH lost one.

I think I will only put:
My Grandfather
FH g-father
and MY beloved Uncle who just passed last week.

Not sure how I will do this.....
