How are your jobs handling your honeymoon vacation???

So we are going on our honeymoon two weeks after the wedding but I only get a week per year!!! We were planning on going for three weeks... so I'm just wondering how everyone is handling this issue.

Are any of your bosses giving/ given you a hard time ??

PS- my company also just told me they plan on me going to Vegas for a trade show 2 days after my wedding!!!!!

Luckily my job is very flexable with vacation time.

I have 20 days vaca a year incl. personal and comp time. I was able to take 3 weeks off for the wedding and honeymoon w/o any problems.

your company might make you take unpaid time off ... or they might deny the request all-together (except the first week). i'd speak with your manager before booking anything.

ps: my job gives plenty of time off but i still went over by about two days this year ... they told me to just take 2 days less next year and call it even.

Re: How are your jobs handling your honeymoon vacation???

I only have 2 weeks (10 days) during my vacation period (April to March - weird I know). With all the weddings I was in and the wedding stuff I had to take care of PLUS my honeymoon I have gone WAY over that. Luckily I'm here for 4 years and the only person that does what I do here. Every time they have someone here while I'm gone, when I come back my boss tells me that they can never replace me and he missed me (even though he's a jerk most of the time, he knows I know my sh*t). So I've been fortunate so far...

I would get a hard time every now and then from the CEO but he approved it anyway because I told my direct boss, I'm taking the time for my honeymoon anyway.

I am technically paid hourly so I get my benefit time based on how many hours I've worked... I went on my honeymoon with nearly 300 hrs and I used about 96 and my job gives me 24 hours paid benefit time for getting married. I was off for 26 days!

DH on the other hand had only been at his company for 10 months, but it's a small company and they 'technically' give you 2 weeks vacation time but had had already used some days in the 10 months he had been there for little things like a snowboarding trip and stuff. As a 'gift' to him they let him take off the time he needed - 3 weeks paid! I love his bosses!

I didnt have any problem. as long as we take time mid month and not month end nobody gives u any problems - I have 3 weeks vacay per yr
the only thing was that I dint want to take too much for the wedding and then have nothing the rest of the yr and I wanted to save a week for 2011 as I was planning (and now am) going to my country. also I didnt want my co-workers to work too hard to cover for me. so I took off 11 paid days off (plus 2 weekends in there)

I only get 2 weeks and I used all my vacation time.. They were not happy cause idealy your not suppose to use 2 weeks in a row.. but honeslty I didnt care and did it anyways.. unfortunately now i have no days left so thats the crappy part but they are not flexible with taken time off and they make you feel guilty for it too

We get PTO (paid time off) days. It is based on length of employment. I get 30 days a year to do with as I wish...Sick, vac, personal etc.. I am here 11 years. You can't go over that amount. I also work with someone who covers me and I cover her, so I can't very well take 3 weeks all together as it would be a burden to her to do double shifts that long. I took a week and 2 days. With weekends it was a nice amount of time. I am not sure how long you are with your company. If you are new, I wouldn't give them too much of a fight as the economy is lousy. Remember, you may want to take time off with your new hubby later in the year.

My job was very flexible...I got 3 wks off and everyone covered me when I needed but I just had to cover everyone else when they went on vacation, of course.

I only used the amount of time that my company allows. I took only a few days other than pre-wedding and HM. You have every right to take the days they allot to you.

Definitely speak with your boss before booking your HM if you are going to go WAAY over your PTO.
