How are/did you explain 'where babies come from' to your little one?
FH and I were discussing this on our long trip home last night. Im looking for opinions on if you are going to give a little info or give most of the gory details (G rated of course)

my SIL told her boys that 'Uncle Chris gave the baby to Aunt Jenny as a little seed so she could grow a baby for them to love. And that he gave it to her because they got married and love each other. And he gave it to her on a special night when they went to bed after they had both decided they wanted a little baby to love'
Who knows if this worked, but it kept them quiet for a long time.

I have no clue how I'm giong to tell Patrick when the time comes. But I think the I will do it the G-rated version of the truth.

I believe in telling the truth but in an age apppriate way. I think there are also books at the library to help with this. I was also told last night at my hypnobirthing class that parents should speak ONLY positively about child birth, as opposed to discussing 'pain', especially around girls of all ages.

We had always told Billy that a baby was a gift from god and god puts it in the mommy's tummy..
While I was trying to get pregnant he would say to me ' we just have to keep asking god mommy, he'll give us one' When he turned 6 he said to me.. mommy I think I really know how the baby gets in the mommys tummy.. I asked him how and he says ' The daddy and mommy get nakkid and kiss' Needless to say.. I let him believe that too..lol

I read somewhere that you should ask the child exactly what they want to know, and give only the info they are requesting. I think it makes sense not to overload small minds.

I was 6 when my mother became preggers with my brother. She took me to the library and got me several books on the topic. I knew about the penis ****** concept at 6. Do I think I really comprehended it? No, but I new they were not brought by a stork, a cabbage patch, or religon. I think that when the time comes for us to tell Geno, we'll probably do the same.
