This is my next step is to have an HSG, Im having it on friday..Ive heard conflicting stories...some say it hurts badly, others say its nothing..what are your experiences? I found out that my husbands insurance will not cover IVF if that is what ends up being needed..so I am praying that I can get pregnant without it. Im a nervous wreck!
Yes, for some people the HSG can be painful, but thats usually when the tubes are blocked (like me, ouch!)
I know plenty of people that had it and it was a breeze.
Just take a few advil an hour or so beforehand. Its over very quickly anyway.

I've had it done. It is uncomfortable and feels like cramps especially if your tubes are blocked. As Lisa said, it doesn't take that long. Good luck and I hope they find nothing! Lots of baby dust to you!

I have to go for one too. I am going next month. He told me to take some advil before going. One of my friends had it done and she said it is a bit uncomfortable but not painful.

I had one done several months ago, and I would say the worst thing about it was the prep they told me to do, they wanted me to take a enima and do a doushe. and also just being nervous.
But the actual test was not bad at all.

Our insurance doesnt cover infertility, it sucks, so hopefully all with happen without any real treatment!
This test was covered though.

OMG, next week I am going for a Hysterosonogram... Is this the same test. They mentioned putting dye......... Now, Iam petrified!

HSG is the same as a hysterosalpingogram , they inject dye to see if your fallopian tubes are blocked,
dont be scared its really not bad, and thats coming from the Biggest scaredy cat baby ever!!!!

A hysterosalpingogram (HSG) and a hysterosonogram are different.
The HSG is to check your tubes.
A hysterosonogram is to check your uterus for polyps, etc. It the same thing as a saline sonogram. I had one. It doesn't hurt at all! They bascially just use a small catheter to put saline through your uterus. I didn't feel a thing!

Yes, because I have no infertility problems. I got preggo right away, I just haven't been able to hold the pregnancy past 6 weeks.

I had no problems with the HSG. I took 2 advils about an hour before and it was over before I knew it. I had very good technicians.
Denise...make sure they check your Insulin Resistance levels. I have been having unexplained problems myself and they just tested it and it was way high. They said that could be the main reason why I'm not sustaining a pregnancy.
