how bad is Kibbles N Bits

Oscar seems to really like it but the vet says it's not so healthy. Oscar's had so many adjustments lately, moving and meeting new people and other dogs for the first time, and I hate to change his food again.

he got diarrhea from rawhide treats but the Kibble seems great w/him. How bad is it???

The vet recommended Wellness or Nature's Recipe and she recommended mixing in a little bit of 'wet food' with the dry.

Kibbles and Bits is terrible, it's like McDonalds. You should change the food gradually - start with 1/4 new food, 3/4 old for a week, then 1/2 and 1/2 for a week, then 3/4 new, 1/4 old for a week. The third week is all new food.

Wellness is best, then Nature's Recipe...

The first ingredient in a quality dog food should be beef, chicken, or lamb.
The first ingredient in Kibbles N Bits is corn. Corn is not good for dogs - they don't digest it well. Then Kibbles N Bits lists something called 'animal digest'. What the heck is that?

Wellness is an excellent dog food. I would listen to your vet!

This is from the Wellness site:
Wellness does not contain any rendered animal fats, meat by-products, wheat, corn or white rice and also does not contain any artificial colors, flavors or preservatives of any kind.

Ok, I'm going to switch gradually. What is a good food that will be easy to get? I don't want to introduce Oscar to a type of food that may be hard to find in stores.

A lot of people on this website like Wellness. On other doggy websites I have found that Innova, Canidae and Solid Gold are favorites. You can find all of these at Pet Supplies Plus in East Northport.

My pup hated wellness and the vet said that a lot of dogs don't like it.. I use Iams.. but the vet said you can also use Eukanuba.. same company but Iams is richer and some dogs tummies can't handle it.

Iams is actually terrible for your animal.

Try Wellness, solid gold, the Wysong program, Nature's Recipe.

Any of these can be found here:

www.petfooddirect.com

You should be able to find most of them at pet supply stores. Your grocery store won't have it probably, but it's worth the trip to have your puppy live longer

Re: how bad is Kibbles N Bits

I went to the store and read ALL labels. I thought that theTRIUMPH dog food ingredients looked great. So I bought a small amt. to try and I mixed some in with Oscar's Kibbles and Bits. He loved it, he ate so fast and then was running circles around me for a few minutes (as he does when he is excited). So far no tummy probs. It's been a few hours since his first TRIUMPH meal.

I want to start ordering pet food online for delivery. What place is best for service and price?
