so i am getting married october 9 and we only have the place and the church down so far... am i behind should i be starting to find vendors asap??? i mean we just booked the RH 2 weeks ago so idk how much more to do now esp since we live upstate NY and can only come down on weekends...
and i dont wanna go looking for dresses until i can hopefully lose some weight as hard as thats really gonna be ughh lol

i would say your next step should be photographer or DJ.....I dont think you should waste too much time bc some of these vendors do book fast.
But you still have a some time

Hi date twin! You aren't that behind, I have not even looked for a dress, BM's dresses, DJ, flowers, or limos yet. I will soon, we have an appt with a dj/band Sept 1st. The flowers and limos I plan on doing about 6 months before. I'm waiting until January to look for a dress, I plan on losing weight. I would book the big ones soon though, like photographer and DJ so you can get the ones you want. Don't stress, you still have time!

Another 10/9/11 bride!!
I was wondering that same thing for myself. I didn't know if I should've been booking vendors quickly or if I had more time. I agree with the other brides in that you should book your photographer and DJ first because the good ones get booked fast. My FH and I are going to meet with a photographer on 9/4 and go from there. I also started looking for bridesmaid dresses today since I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking for so I want to have enough time to look and really do my homework.
Don't stress anything, though! Enjoy the planning

You have plenty of time, but I would move on to photography/videography next...those tend to book up pretty fast and if you wait until a year or less out you might not be able to get your first choice.

I just hit the 'year' mark and think... 'Oh, I have all this time' but i really don't! Espically my dress, I think they say have it ordered 9 month before hand due to ordering... *ugh* And depending your date, vendors fill up fast as time goes by...
I think you should be OK, but once you hit the 12 month mark, make sure you start looking to book your big vendors

I definitely wouldn't worry. I think you do have time. But, I know some vendors are very popular and book fast. So I honestly wouldn't wait on those vendors. Right now, I do have all major vendors booked, but it's because I go to school upstate and won't be able to really do much wedding stuff during 2011. The very last thing we booked was limos and I was shocked to hear from one company that they already had a few bookings for that day.
By the way- where upstate are you?

You still have plenty of time. The only thing I worry about booking sooner rather than later is the photog/video because they book up fast (esp. if you are looking into one of the popular ones like Duet, Thomas Paul, etc). After that, you can gradually start tackling DJ, florist, and limos.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. We started planning with just over one year in advance so youre already ahead of where I was. I am out of town too though, so basically I tried to get as much out of the way as possible whenever we had a free weekend to make things less stressful later on. I wouldnt worry yet, but when you have some time try to get photographer and music figured out.

in addition to photographer, videographer, dj and florist, it may be smart to look into makeup and hair. I know some MUA book early (ex oksana is booking 2011 dates already).

im in delhi its near oneonta i went to school up here and just graduated in may but am living with my fiancee up here while working up here right now.. so its hard to go down all the time esp with trying to save and then gas money going down.. lol but its also difficult bec its hard to go to bridal expos bec they are all during the week mostly.. but i am going to one in binghamton in sept just to get ideas.
where are you upstate??

I would be careful....us Long Island brides are pretty hardcore, I booked my photographer 1yr 1/2 in advance and my first choice was already taken after that i pretty much decided to book all my main vendors, which was a good choice because a lot of the surrounding dates were taken. Also prices will only go up from now, just saw an episode of say yes to the dress, and a girl cancelled her order on her dress, then decided she wanted it again and in that time the price went up $1,300, granted thats kleinfelds, it just shows prices are going up, I know if i booked my RH today instead when i did it would be 10 or 20$ more a person. So I would really consider that the earlier you book the cheaper it is,as well as not getting your first choice for vendors, so book as early as you can, thats what i think!

I'm in Albany. It's definitely a pain in the neck having to drive back and forth especially w/ the price of tolls and gas. I've been dying to go to a bridal show and have yet to attend one! Everything's on a Tuesday or Wednesday!!! So annoying.
