I've noticed that a large amount of the $$ for photographers (at least the ones I looked at) went towards the albums and thank you cards etc that you get afterwards. While the various albums and thank you cards are really really nice, FH and I can't afford it.

So we're going with a lesser known photographer that includes all of the high res photographs in his price and charges separately for the albums. Since FH is good with photoshop and all of that stuff, we're going to make the albums ourselves.

In terms of video, we may decide to take a 6 hr package instead of 8 hr or 10hr to cut costs a little bit. My cousin also had my dad tape his wedding instead of hiring a videographer. My dad used really basic editing software on his computer to make a nice simple video of the day that my cousin could distribute. You can buy the DVD boxes (about $1 each) and create covers in photoshop to make them look more professional.

Asking the folks on here is a great way to go. People have done lots of research and are happy to share. I went the craiglist route and found a photographer that takes really nice pics and isn't charging us an arm and a leg for everything. Fm me for more info.

I'm not sure about video, but I know Grey Dog Photography (www.greydogphotography.com) has great prices and does great work.

Twelfth Night also has great prices, and they might do video as well.

I'm using Grey Dog and I think they're great. Their price is amazing and they are really friendly. Give them a call.

my best advice for those types of vendors are being up front and asking how can u cut corners without it showing .. try a raw footage video..no editing will definetly save a few dollars..you would be surprised at what people do or will do to satisfy a bride..
