How come nobody booked The Woodlands?

How come nobody booked The Woodlands?

I am seriously considering booking The Woodlands, but notice that NOBODY has booked it.

I would love to know why you chose not to book it, if you were considering it in your wedding options.

Please let me know. If you don't want to post it, please FM me.

THANKS!!!!

The place is beautiful. My biggest concern was that the dance floor was a bit small for my size wedding-we're inviting a/b 250 ppl-and that it split the room up. Other than that, I loved the place.

I was thinking of looking there, but the price range was kinda high. Plus I think I read on here that someone complained that people going to Passionfish, the restaurant there, were walking through the cocktail hour or something? I can't remember now.

Thanks so much for the response. I agree that the dance floor seemed a bit small.

However, I am having 150 guests...do you think that the dance floor is doable for that amount?

THANKS!

I absolutely love the Woodlands. I honestly didn't even know about it until after we booked CLM. I go there for lunch all the time w/ my co-workers, and the only drawback (for me) that sets my mind at ease is that the cocktail room is small, there's only room to seat like 140. Since we're having approx. 200 guests that wouldn't work for us.

BOOK it!!! Go for it, its gorgeous there.

Thought it was a great place, but here's why I didn't book (these are all just my opinion and not trying to knock/insult anyone who did book there):

1) concerned that the green carpet in ballroom wouldn't go well with the colors I knew I wanted for the wedding

2) outdoor ceremony area was kind of on a hill--not great if you're planning on getting married there and having lots of guests

3) VERY important: the entrance for Passion Fish was pretty much the same entrance for wedding guests--just opposite sides of a small patio. The staircase is right by the bridal suite. This was a big concern for me since I wanted a Sat night wedding, also a busy restaurant night--didn't want random restaurant patrons in my pics!

Re: How come nobody booked The Woodlands?

I'm one of those people who looked but didn't book. I liked it, but didn't love it. These were my observations: I went to see it in the middle of June and when I got there they had the front yard all dug up and they were planting, they had two dead potted plants at the front door and the entire place reeked like fertilizer (a very funky smell). My mom who is an avid gardener couldn't understand why this place would wait until JUNE (prime wedding season) to start planting the garden or why they would leave dead plants in the entrance way, basically it seemed like they didn't have their act together and that they didn't pay attention to small details. I loved the drive up to the place, I thought the outside was charming, I really liked the cocktail room (the original part), but I didn't like the newly constructed rooms (they looked very low budget to me, green carpet, acoustic tile ceilings, partioned walls). I loved all the windows in the ballroom and the golf course and scenery out back. I didn't like the layout of the ballroom. The set-up is such that I would have had guests sitting miles from the dance floor (I like a room that has more tables on the perimeter of the dance floor and not so many tables deep). I hated the room in between the foyer and the ballroom (the horses painted on thew wall). I also didn't care for the foyer (the faux marble and outdated fake flowers), I think if they just kept it simple it would be more elegant. I thought the bridal suite was nice and the bathroom in the bridal suite was lovely. I also really liked the bar area where you could have a little after party (although it was too small for my wedding). Basically there were just too many negatives for me, although I saw a lot of potential, I wasn't in love with the place. If the newly constructed rooms were done a bit more elegantly the place would have a whole different feel.

This is just my personal taste, but that is why I didn't book it.

I think it may be...the other thing too was that we're having a band and I didn't think there was enough room for the size band plus people dancing. If you're band is small or you're having a dj then I think you'll be ok. My friend is going to a wedding there soon-I'll find out when and see what she thought of it.

Thanks so much for the feedback ladies. I really appreciate it. By the way it says that your wedding date is in 2010. Is that an error?

Just checking.

Thanks again!

I'm getting married this year. It is an error I made on purpose.

I did!

I had all the questions/concerns as some of the other folks, but my guests are usual, will make their own dance space if need be and the people there are wonderful. I tried to post 2 other (longer, more detailed) posts about it and got kicked off, so my short and sweet of it, is that as long as you and your fiancee are happy, that's all that matters!

Hi I heard from many people who live in woodbury that the food isnt that great so thats why I didnt bother to go there. And this came from doctors, surgeons, lawyers, dentist, actors. So I took what they said pretty seriously.

I looked too but didn't book. I loved it but was concerned about the shape of the ballroom. It is so long and narrow that we were afraid that the guests on either side of the dance floor would be really cut off from each other. I also didn't like that if you had less than 175 or so they partitioned off part of the room, which would make the guests even more split off from each other. The final straw was when we saw the Carlyle. It was hands down the winner!

Re: How come nobody booked The Woodlands?

My reasons...
1) Out of our price range (quoted $115 for a Fri nite July 06)
2) Did not like how the room was arranged. Dance floor at one end, all tables at the other. Also, it seemed a little tight.
