Re: How did everyone determine who?
I am an only child as well, and I chose one of my closest friend, w/o a doubt I knew it was going to be her, she is the one that is there for me no matter what. She is also my sorority sister.

Re: How did everyone determine who?
I chose my 2 best childhood friends to be co-maids of honor. I don't have any sisters - just 1 brother - and these two are the girls who have known me forever and gone through just about everything with me. They feel like family to me.

Re: How did everyone determine who?
This was definately a hard one for me since I have no sisters, only brothers and over the past years I have lived in NY, Baton Rouge, and now in Texas so I don't have that one childhood bestfriend or anything. My best friend is actually a guy from college who I talk to all the time, but I wanted a traditional all-female bridal party. So I asked my closest friend here in Texas who I've been friends with for over two years. I looked at it as who are my close friends now at this point in my life when I am getting married.

Re: How did everyone determine who?
It really wasn't hard for me, cause I have an older sister, and I was her MOH at her wedding. My two best friends who are like family will be my bridesmaids. And since my sister has two children they are going to be my flower girl and ring barrier.

I have a sister but I chose my best friend. We have been friends for 16 years. I am so much closer to her than my sister.

Re: How did everyone determine who?
I actually chose one of my best friends - MY MOM. You may want to think about it, she was sooo happy and is more involved than anyone in the planning, plus she enjoys it - find that in bridesmaid!

I had a very difficult time with this because I have several close friends. I finally just picked one.

Re: How did everyone determine who?
I asked my sister to be my Maid of Honor and my best friend to be my Matron of Honor.I think you should ask the person that:
-you do not have to clean your house for when they come over
-you can tell them anything and they keep the secret
-they never judge you. they just love you for who you are
-if you get a bad haircut they tell you, 'What did you do to your hair'
-that thru good times and bad times you KNOW (it has been proven) that they will stand by your side, cry with you, laugh with you, tell you it is going to be okay even when you think it never will be again, go for ice-cream with you even if you are on weight watchers, see a movie you really want to see even when they don't really think it will be any good.
I would not ask a girl you met a few months ago and you have lunch with sometimes. You can also wait for a few weeks/months to see which person is really helping you/caring about the wedding/not making you cry.

Re: How did everyone determine who?
I had a tough decision to make. I too have no sisters and I did not want my FI sister.I have two friends I felt were both deserving of the honor. I finally picked one and am happy with my decision. I picked a girl that I have been friends with since hs. I see her less than the other girl but it is just because we are at different points in our lives but I know she is a true friend and has and will do anything for me no matter what. The other girl I see all the time and we are close and I think she felt bad (I was her MOH) but everything is ok.

Re: How did everyone determine who?
I chose my best friend of 23 years to be my maid of honor. We decided way back when we're little that we would always be each other's MOH.

Re: How did everyone determine who?
I chose my best friend, we have been friends for 15 yrs. I always knew it would be her. Even before I knew who I would marry, I always envisioned her being by my side ( I know that sounds corny) but she is truly such an important part of my life. We experienced so many things together, from heartbreak to just really fun times that I will always remember. I feel you should choose someone who is important in your life and who knows you really well, it doesn't necessarily have to be a family member, it could be a best friend who is as close to you as family. I have a stepsister who I made a BM because even though we're close she's not as close as my best friend. Good luck choosing someone.

Re: How did everyone determine who?
I am a only child and I picked my friend that I have known all my life since we were babies. We grew up together so she is more like family. We refer to each other as cousins.

Re: How did everyone determine who?
I am not an only child, but I am an only girl. I don't even have any girl cousins to ask, they are all boys (at least the ones I am close with.) So I asked my best-friend from childhood. We've been friends since we were 8. It wasn't a hard decision at all, it was something we always knew would be.

Re: How did everyone determine who?
I chose my two sisters. Growing up I always thought it'd be the older one (we're very close in age and did everything together). But now my younger sister (9 years younger - she's 19) is an adult too and we've become really close in the last few years. So I asked them both to be my MOHs. Only one could be on the alter, so my older sister stood with us, and my younger sister did a reading. They gave the most impressive speech - I'm so glad I included them both!

I have 1 Matron, 2 MOH.For matron, my very best friend from childhood, that has been w/me through thick and thin. I was her MOH as well.
For MOHs, my sister who I LOVE dearly, and my other best friend who was my roomie before living w/FH.

Re: How did everyone determine who?
I'm glad to hear that some of you had more than one maid of honor. I want to choose my best friend, but I have my sister too. But my sis is very immature (18yrs old) and I'm not as close with her. So I haven't actually picked my wedding party yet. I still have 18 mths to go.Welcome New Vendors
