they were all very happy. his mom and uncle knew it was coming bc they helped him out a bit.

Sadly, I think they were indifferent.
They were happy that he was happy but they wanted us to wait longer to get married.

Oh, this is a great story. We went to Savannah, GA this past St Patricks Day weekend and had to drive there because all flights were cancelled due to the ice storm. They picked us up from the airport and we were talking all about the trip, etc, and his mom was like, 'Quite an adventure, huh?' and I showed her my hand and said, 'Well, this was the next part of the adventure...' and she FLIPPED! (In a good way) She was like, 'You're kidding me! You're kidding me!' And was crying.... it was great!

his parents knew because he was hiding the ring at their house. They were happy...and relieved I think. his mom did not want to open up to me at first because she didn't want to get close if we didn't stay together. We had a VERRRRRRRY rocky relationship at first. but after over 7 years I think she was just relieved and happy that we were making it official and now FH's neices and nephews could call me auntie mel without them worrying that I might not stick around forever. I called FMIL right after he proposed and we were both giddy and screaming on the phone.
His parents have also been a ton more helpful both supportively and financially since we bought this house and got engaged.

Very happy FH has a great family that I get along with well.... & his mom can't wait for more grandchildren (she only has 1 from FH brother right now!!)

Everyone was very happy!!! Both of our moms cried. His parents and my parents knew before he asked me. he asked my parents permission and his mother and sister talked him into doing it in December. He was going to wait until March (had the ring since September)

They were very happy. Everyone knew that we would get engaged, the just didn't know when. So, no one was surprised when we told them.

HIs mohter knew before, so that morning while we were away, she kept calling and asking if there was any news yet---I think it made him more nervous. But we called her right after and she was thrilled-----we couldn't get in touch with his dad and stepmom for hours, but once they knew, they were very happy
