How did you ask your bridesmaids to be in your wedding? I need a creative idea to ask my last bridesmaid and I want it to be special since I waited so long to ask her! TIA!

Re: how did you...
I was the WORST when it came to this!!!
FSIL FH asked when he asked his brother to be Best Man he just kind of said 'We want you guys to be in the wedding!!!'
One girl I took to dinner and put down a catalog and asked what she thought of these dresses and she said she liked them, why and I said 'How'd ya like to wear one?' and she freaked out! That's how we told her we were engaged.
Another BM text'd me to ask what I was doing and I wrote back 'Trying on wedding dresses. Wanna come down and start trying on Bridesmaid ones? <3'
My MOH was 1st asked to be a BM and it was by phone when I told her we were engaged and I KNEW she was going to freak out. She called (I knew she would when she saw my facebook update) and said You finally got a new car?! and I said yeah dan bought it for me as a gift. She said that's some gift...I said it's kind of an engagement gift. And she was like WHATTTT. I don't remember if I asked her in that conversation or the next one but she had to go all law school trying to make lists about the pros and cons lol before we could get to any of the good stuff like be my bridesmaid.
With that said...they sell really cute 'Will you be my bridesmaid cookies' on this website & cards at AC Moore. We were shopping once and the girls threw the cards in my basket complaining that they didn't get cards. Oops!

Re: how did you...
I made a montage with pictures of myself and the girls (most of which I have known since we were in diapers) and intermittently I wrote 'Name... After all the memories we have shared... I would be honored if you would ... be my bridesmaid!? January 17, 2010'
and in the background I had the song 'thats what friends are for' :)

I´ve seen some hand made cards with cute poems. I´m probably going to that. The cookie idea is cute too!! but i´m sentimental and would want to keep it so just in case they are too (i know my sis is) i want to give them a card.

Re: how did you...
Well my sisters, FSIL and one of my best friends all just kind of knew they were going to be in the bridal party.
Another one of my girlfriends was asking me if I knew what color I wanted my girls in....I told her I was doing red, and then said 'You look good in red, right???'
Then another was looking through our catalog of NRC at the menu options. She was joking how she was only coming to the wedding for the food. I said 'I thought you were coming to be a BM.'
My last one, we were out to dinner about two weeks after I got engaged, and I think I just said 'So you're going to be a BM right?'

Haha I just asked them but I took my MOH/sister out to dinner and gave her a really nice card asking her to be my MOH and how much I wanted her next to me on the alter. She framed the card she loved it so much

Re: how did you...
I ordered monogram tote bags for each of the girls and made cards and mailed them to their houses.

Re: how did you...
I was pretty bad at this... when I got engaged I called my best friend and asked her right away if she would be my MOH. Same with my other friend. My FSIL just kind of assumed she would be in it so it wasn't really discussed, and my sister doesn't really understand the whole thing, but I knew she would feel really special being one of my 'VIPs' for the day so I just asked her and she said yes.
The only different one was FHs cousin's wife. Everyone knew that FHs cousin would be in the BP since FH was in his, and their son will be our Ring Bearer. We're close to them, so we wanted to include her too, so one night we were making dinner at their house and she was asking me about wedding stuff and I (very awkwardly) said, 'so, how do you think you'd look in a purple dress?' (at the time I was planning on the BMs wearing purple). She looked at me, confused, and then said, 'wait, you want me to be in the wedding?' I said yes and she was honored to be asked and she agreed. It was odd, but I guess I got the point across :)
I do like the idea of the tote bags, and I've heard of the 'will you be my bridesmaid' cookies too.
