lol i feel like such a slacker after reading this thread. mine went something like 'soooo ummm, I've been meaning to ask you if you would be my bridesmaid' over the phone. but you know what...they were all elated and i don't think any one of them cared that i didn't ask them more creatively. I'll be sure to be a bit more creative with their gifts.

Me too! I couldn't help it -- I called 2 of my BMs and my sis (MOH) and asked them over the phone the night I got engaged. I waited 2 days to surprise a third BM in person about our engagement (AAAAAAAWESOME SURPRISE, totally worth the wait) and then asked her in person. I called the 4th bridesmaid a few weeks after she knew I was engaged.

I like the cutesy things but I couldn't help myself - just couldnt wait

i wrote them a poem in a card asking them.. i gave them a book called forever friends, an everything bridesmaid book, and a cute tank.. each girl got their own box. they all cried lol
