Re: How did you ask your bridesmaids?
Hi Annie, We didn't ask our wedding party yet(and I can't wait BTW) But we decided we would visit each of them and take them out to lunch or dinner and ask them since we don't see them often enough and they all live kinda far.

Re: How did you ask your bridesmaids?
I did not do anything formal.... I think everyone kind of knows who will be in their wedding party. So when we announced our engagement, I had asked my best friend to be my MOH. I asked another friend to be in it because if it wasn't her going to Jillian's that night with I never would of met my FH. Although, at dinner one night I asked my brother and sister-in-law to be in it. But they always knew they would be there supporting me.

Re: How did you ask your bridesmaids?
Well I told one of my best friends right when I got home from my FH's. I asked her right then and there, but she knew befoee he even asked me that I was getting married.
my MOH and other BM I waited till I told them that my FH asked me to marry him and I said yes.

Re: How did you ask your bridesmaids?
I did a couple of different things, I just posted it recently (about two weeks ago somebody asked and got a ton of replies - so do a search to see the rest), I bought a book on Amazon.com, see attached for three of my BM and I wrote to them in it. Then I got a picture frame that said I'm so glad we have a sisterness about us for my FH's sisters and framed a picture of us, and I made (well my FMIL made) a photo album for my MOH that I put a letter in and pictures of her engagement and mine and we are filling it with engagement party, shower, dress shopping, etc pictures to document our engagements, and I bought another book for the jr bridesmaids and flower girl and one other bm that I will try to post.
I bought note cards and wrote a little something personal to each of them. For the bridesmaids that lived close I went out to eat with them and personally gave them the notecard and for those who lives out of town i sent them in the mail for a nice surprise.
All of my bridesmaids thought it was such a cute idea and were very touched with the personal touch that I gave. The notecards were also perfect, Since I am jewish I found notecards with a bride and groom under the chupah. I know there are notecards out there specificaly for asking girls to be bridesmaids.
Good luck

Re: How did you ask your bridesmaids?
Our Wedding is 11/2/02. My fiance's b-day is 11/3 so on 11/02/01 we invited everyone in our bridal party out to a restaurant (Zocalo in NYC) to celebrate our 1 year countdown to the wedding and to celebrate David's birthday. (We actually sent invitations) During dinner we presented each person with a picture collage with some writing at the bottom. I also made cards for my bridesmaids and gave them the little bridesmaid book. People pretty much knew it was coming, but it was a great night!

Re: How did you ask your bridesmaids?
i sent them a poem in the mail. They had no idea what this letter was and all of them loved it. One of their moms read it and was crying because she said it was absolutely beautiful. Good luck and happy planning.

Re: How did you ask your bridesmaids?
If I had to do it again I would have bought those shirts from the knot- that say bridesmaid or maid of honor...Even if they just wore them to bed I think it would have been cute.

Re: How did you ask your bridesmaids?
I didn't ask everyone right away. One of my married friends gave the advise to wait a while- because you never know what life has in store. Turned out that was the best advise. So first, I'd say, wait a while. (I was going to have my cousin- and now we're in a huge family fued. It's so upsetting) Anyway- Everyone else lives out of state. So, I asked them on the phone and then sent them a little box w/ a small picture frame of a picture of me and my friend and a note. In the note I explained that the box was filled with my unconditional friendship and fomally invited them to be a part of my bridal party.

Re: How did you ask your bridesmaids?
Hi- Here's how I did it...
I wrote each girl a personal letter talking about our friendship over the years. Then I found poems that reminded me of each girl (this took some time, considering I have 9)...I asked them during Christmas time, so I bought them each a glass ornament. I then wrote the same saying to each of them talking about how the ornament is made of fragile glass - it needs lots of care and attention to make sure it will always be around. I compared the fragility and sensitivity of the glass ornament to our friendship, and then at the end asked if they would be my bridesmaid......they all really loved it!
