How did you choose?

How did you choose?

Hi All,

We are getting married in October 08 and are starting to look around at honeymoon options. I have NO idea where to start! We want a tropical--sit on the beach with a yummy drink kind of place that has gorgeous beaches and rooms/resorts. there just seems to be so many options. I honestly am totally lost. can you let me know how you narrowed down your lists? thanks!

I am going through those same questions now. We still havent decided but for starters we had to figure out how long we were going for. Since it will be only a week, we want a place where we can sit on a beach enjoy great weather, and not have to waste too much time on traveling.
Right now we are looking at the Caribbean.

FH and I had a list of about 45 places we wanted to go. Everywhere looks so nice!! But we really fell in love with this place in brazil and thought we would never be able top afford it. but then we found out it was within our budget and got excited and booked it!

I think before you pick a place to go you should think about what you want to do. Like if you aren't a beach person then you may not want to go to a carribean beach resort!

Right now FH and I can't decide but eventually we will figure something out.

I liked the idea of all inclusive so I took a look at the different sandals resorts/locations...leaning towards Bahamas

this took a while to narrow down. we went from tropical to europe and couldnt decide what we wanted. in the end, we decided that almost every vacation we took was to the caribbean so we tried to do something different and chose alaska instead. totally off the mark of what we were orginally thinking! but its a mix of relaxing and adventure. its a tough decision. if you want beach and relaxation, try mexico, st lucia, turks and caicos, antigua

Re: How did you choose?

If you are interested in something tropical, I highly recommend the Lifestyle Hacienda Resort in Puerta Plata on Cofresi Beach. It is an all inclusive resort but the food far exceeds that of Sandals. They have a gourmet restaurant on the premises and you can eat chateubriand, rack of lamb, shrimp cocktail and lobster tails, all for the included food and drinks (there are 7 restaurants). They serve premium brand liquor at the VIP bars, as well. Some AI's only serve non label alcohol.

There are also sister resorts in a variety of places throughout the world. So if you are up for something exotic like Brazil, or there are a few options there. There are also resorts in European cities like Vienna, Florence, Rome, London etc.

Re: How did you choose?

We wanted to go someplace neither of us had been (which eliminates a lot of places b/c FI has traveled A LOT) and that was warm and relaxing but also had scuba diving and other activities. We also wanted somewhere that we probably wouldn't be able to go to in the next few years (due to wanting kids relatively soon after getting married, financial considerations, b/c both of our offices are generous for time off for weddings, but not so much other times). So, we chose a cruise around Tahiti/French Polynesia and then a few days diving off Moorea. However, I have to say that I did a bit of research on Belize for a possible weekend trip next year, and it looks just terrific if you want something with less travel.
