how did you choose for Tahiti?

They are look breathtaking....how did you decide on which hotels and length at each island????

It was pretty easy.

We chose the Sheraton on Tahiti, a basic room, since we are just sleeping there before going to moorea the next morning.

We'll be in Moorea for 4 daysat the Pearl Beach Resort, and got a Garden View room. We chose that room for affordability, and since we plan on going on a lot of excursions, we won't be in the room much.

We'll be at the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort for 3 days, in an Over Water bunglaow. This is our splurge, and I couldn't imagine going to Bora Bora and NOT staying in an OWB. In addition, the BB Pearl is on a motu, not the BB mainland. It is the only hotel on the motu, and we like the privacy.

And the 3 main locations (bora bora last)

I chose by doing a lot of research...mostly online on tripadvisor.com and on this board - check out the FP thread in the HM section...there are a ton of us going and you can get ideas from there. I also bought the Tahiti Guide Book by Jan Prince which Jess (camacho) recommended to me. She actually helped me a lot - I FM'd her with a ton of questions when I was in the process of booking b/c she had booked long before me and knew a lot of stuff I just didn't know yet.

I don't recommend you spend more than your 1st night in Tahiti - big city - no one really seems to stay there more than 1 or 2 nights. Best to move on to the better islands and enjoy your time there. From there I'm doing 2 nights on Moorea at the Moorea Pearl in a garden room with private pool. Didn't want to waste the $ on an OWB in Moorea. Then decided to go with 5 nights at the brand new Bora Bora IC Thalasso in an OWB. That hotel just looks amazing and we wanted to be in one spot for a long period of time so we felt settled somewhere...so we both wanted that time in Bora Bora which to me looks like the most gorgeous of all the islands. That new hotel is expensive but you get free breakfast and dinner with the early booking rate...basically you get it if you stay there anytime in 2006. Then we are finishing the trip with 2 nights at Le Taha'a Private Resort and Spa - I had my heart set on this place and at $1k plus a night all we could afford to do was 2 nights there. We're staying in a beach villa there which is huge in size and has a private plunge pool and outdoor tub/shower and huge deck right on the beach...looks amazing and I've heard the hotel is just fabulous! Wish we could stay longer there.

My TA got us great quotes - I probably priced out 10 diff. itineraries with her and other TA's so I know I got the best price. FM me if you want her info. She's a Virtuoso TA so you get lots of gifts and free amenities from her....our breakast is included at Tahaa as a Virtuoso amenity - we don't have to pay for that at all!
