What kind of veil to get? I can't decide what length I should go for . . . any advice?

Re: How did you decide
I always knew I wanted a mantilla but I never knew how long I wanted it. I just tried on different length veils and chose the one I liked the best. For me it was a process of elimination.

Re: How did you decide
I'm set on a birdcage veil because I love the vintage vibe that they have.
I tried on a few longer veils when my mom was in town because she asked me to and I felt like a goofball in them. It just wasn't me. I kept laughing and telling her that I felt like Cher in a Bob Mackie ensemble. One of them was truely horrific and 1980's all the way. Then she made fun of the birdcage veil and I reminded her that a) she's not the one wearing it and b) she's not the one paying for it.
Try on a bunch. It's the only way to know.

Re: How did you decide
I didn't want an elbow length because I thought it would cut me off, and I didn't want a cathedral because I didn't want it to cover the detail on the back of my gown. So I went for fingertip

Re: How did you decide
Definitely consider the back of your dress. You don't want the edge of your veil to block any special work on the back.

I want a fingertip and cathedral...so I plan on getting a detachable veil. I just really like the look of cathedral, but dont want to have it on the whole day.

Re: How did you decide
The back of my dress is really unique and pretty, and I didn't want to cover it with anything! Therefore, I am opting to have a ribbon headband with a vine of Swarovski crystals .

Re: How did you decide
i tried on a few different types when i was buying my dress. i ended up with a cathedral length and it looked perfect with it......from what i've seen usually fingertip looks good with dresses with lots of detail and more simple dresses look nice with cathedral.

Re: How did you decide
I went with the fingertip because I wanted to keep it on all night, but also not have it too short! I didnt want to worry about my veil in pics when I would already need to making sure the train was good. ALSO- i wanted to wear the veil the next morning for our brunch! :)

Re: How did you decide
At first I didn't want one at all, but when I went dress shopping they were putting veils on me and they put one on me that matched my dress, which is a elbow (I think) and thats the one I bought

Re: How did you decide
Wow - it seems like almost everyone already knows what they are doing! I just don't know!! I kind of hate all the veils I've tried - I feel like I'm under a sheet, or wrapped up like a gift, it's just weird to me!! Also, since I have a big tulle skirt, I'm thinking a plain edge tulle veil would be best - to keep it simple - but I don't know what length. I don't want to get cut off at the elbows, but fingertip makes me feel, again, like I am under a sheet. Here's my dress (for the millionth time) - any veil length suggestions?
