How did you decide on a DJ?

Were currently on the hunt for our dj and we just don't know where to start lol. We made appointments with Tommy's tunes, after hours, and parties alive.. But how do you know if they're right for you? we all know a bad mc can ruin a party. Were mostly going off recommendations here. I've been to multiple events where parties alive was the dj but never a wedding, only installation dinners and it's not hard to get 150 drunk firefighters to dance lol. I feel like at the showcases I've been to, it's not like you even get a feel for them there.. They're Obvs gonna put their best mc up there on the mic.

Idk.. Any opinions on these? Any other recommendations? What do we even ask them when we meet them?

ETA: were looking for a 2 man dj and mc team and a live percussionist and that's pretty much it.

How did you decide on a DJ?

We booked with Tommy's Tunes. With our all inclusive package, we had a choice between them and LI Sound. Both REALLY popular and both excellent. I went to two (okay, three, lol) East Wind showcases and have seen Tommy's Tunes, LI Sound and After Hours perform. They were all great, everyone had a good time. But, when we met with Tommy of Tommy's Tunes, we just clicked. It was a good vibe. Kind of like every other vendor decision you make, when you know you know.

ETA - we upgraded our package and got the two man dj/mc package. We didn't do the live percussionist, FH feels it's too over done now. But, I know it was affordable if we wanted to add it. And, I couldn't agree more about the installation dinners. Although, this years, not too many people were dancing. It fizzled out pretty quickly, I don't remember who the DJ was, but they weren't great.

How did you decide on a DJ?

This was a pretty easy decision for us. We went with the house DJ's,there was three for Riviera.I think most people just click with one. If I went to an amazing DJ and I didn't like the company or who I was speaking with,I wouldn't hire them either way. We choose then till now who gave us a great deal, and we really clicked with the DJ and then saw them at a showcase. I think if you meet with the ones you mentioned, You will just know. I tend to book with people that don't book 50 weddings a weekend, I like personalized attention, and if they are to busy to give me that, then I wont book them.

How did you decide on a DJ?

We booked with Absolute Entertainment in Sayville. They were recommended to us by a friend who also used them for their wedding, which we were at and they were great.
But we also met with a few other dj's. I don't remember really asking them that many questions, I think they actually asked the majority of the questions. All in all we just clicked with ASbolute and they offered a good deal.

How did you decide on a DJ?

This was real easy for us as FH knew him. Plus I had been to several functions where I heard him perform and it was just a no brainer. We just felt very confident with our decision.

How did you decide on a DJ?

Thanks ladies! I guess I'll just have to go with our gut. I already got an ehh feeling from one of their email responses so we shall see.

It's just my biggest fear that nobody will dance or have a good time.

How did you decide on a DJ?

I was concerned about this too but when we met with LI Sound we just clicked. And they put a private showcase for us which I thought was nice.

How did you decide on a DJ?

We went with FM Entertainment (we're using Frank). I emailed several DJ's and I liked Frank's quick clear responses, while some other DJ's gave me one word responses or I too got the ehh feeling from them. We scheduled a private showcase with Frank and he was very willing to work around our crazy schedule. We clicked with him and can't wait for him to do our wedding

Re: How did you decide on a DJ?

Word of mouth. It was the DJ my FSIL used and so many people raved about their DJ so we went with them. We didn't even do any other searching for this lol

We booked Complete Wedding Packages in East Meadow and upgraded our packed to add the MC... one of the owners who we had been speaking too is MCing our wedding so we interviewed him when we found out and told him exactly what we were looking for. We all meshed well.

How did you decide on a DJ?

We booked with MRG productions. My FSIL had them at her wedding and they were sooo amazing! I booked them the minute we got engaged. I honestly can't wait to dance at our wedding. I would totally recommend them.

How did you decide on a DJ?

We were going to meet with Body Rock and Tommy Tunes. Body Rock was a preferred vendor and I have heard such great things about Tommy Tunes. We ended up having a meeting with Body Rock and FH felt really comfortable with them, he thought they got what we wanted and chose to book with them on the spot.

How did you decide on a DJ?

We booked with Just 4 the Record, one of the two djs included in our venue's all inclusive package. The other dj had some bad reviews and when they emailed me they used 'their' instead of 'there'. So that plus the bad reviews sealed the other dj's fate. I met with Eliot from J4TR and he was great. We upgrades some things for reasonable prices. He also said I can pick every song if I wanted lol

How did you decide on a DJ?

portugreek2016, are you using Phil as a DJ/MC (one man) or as a separate MC? I'm trying to find a good DJ company too! I could use all these great recommendations :)

Re: How did you decide on a DJ?

I haven't booked after hours yet since I'm debating on them and a friend of a friend that does mc/dj on the side. But if I go with after hours I would use Phil as the mc and pick a dj within their company. I think my friend had dj mclovin at her wedding with Phil as the mc
