There are so many choices and I want to keep it down to three max. I've never really shopped for home stuff so I'm not really familiar with alot of the stores.... we already registered (haven't put anything on the registry yet) at BBB but I'm not crazy about the China choices there so I'm looking into Crate & Barrel, Fortunoffs, Pier1, Pottery Barn, Bloomies, etc. Can anyone tell me why you chose the stores you did?

Re: How did you decide which stores to register at?
I'm registering at Fortunoff and Crate and Barrel. Fortunoff will be more for my china and silverware, etc. Crate and Barrel is more for the fun stuff because I like their designs and I think their prices are pretty reasonable. Go by your taste and what you think you're going to register for. Fortunoff is generally the place to go for the china, though, mainly because they carry everything and their prices are usually the lowest on them. The customer service is great there also.

I chose Fortunoff's and Crate and Barrel... Firstly b/c I have had experiences buying gifts for people from both places and it has been only positive. Secondly, between the 2 of them, they have everything we wanted/needed...and their prices are reasonable. I have heard that BBB has some sort of minimum price range you need to register for or something and they keep harassing you about it... Good luck...

I just bumped my Macys vs Fortunoffs thread for you. I was floored by the response. Nothing really good to say about Macys

We are registered at BBB for our everyday stuff. Prob Fortunoff for China. Their prices appear to be the most competetive and they have a large selection.

I think the issue you are referring to with BBB was with one store in the Area. I registered at the one by the source mall and FI and I did not put much on there for the first two months. We have not been harassed once. They haven't even called us.

We picked Fortunoff's b/c we knew a lot of his family always shops there/registers there so we figured it was a safe bet. Plus when we walked in we LOVEd the store. We also picked Macy's b/c that's always a safe bet as there are macys all over the place. We wanted someplace that the people would be able to go to and not have to make a long drive to get to.

Re: How did you decide which stores to register at?
We chose Target & Williams-Sonoma.
I love the stuff at Williams-Sonoma.. HAD to register there. That's our 'wish' list
Target has just about everything else. Why? It has everything and it is everywhere. My family and his are VERY spread out. They are in two other countries and at least 5 states here in the US. We wanted lower priced items as well as moderate priced items. We didnt feel right registering for anything we wouldnt just go buy ourselves. We refused to register for China, fine flatware and Crystal. We rather have something we can use. Target is just so very easily accessable overall.
That's it. Just two places.

Re: How did you decide which stores to register at?
i have always been a fortuoof shopper so i knew for sure i was going with them and then i was told to choose another place to give people options and i understand Bed Bath and Beyond has a great policy on returns which is important to me. nothing like dealing with nasty people (IMO..macys)

We registered at Crate and Barrel and Bed, Bath and Beyond.
We registered at C&B just because I love that store so much! I would have only registered there, but to give our guests options we also went with BBB for sheets, towels, etc.

In my experience, EVERYONE registers at Fortunoff and they have a great selection of china, flatware, silverware and crystal. I didn't know anywhere else with that selection. We're also registered at BBB for the houseware stuff (again, I love that store!!!) and MAY register at Williams Sonoma because I am really into cooking. It depends on what you're into
