How did you kick coffee?

I know I have to do this - so I may as well start trying...but I don't know if I can...and if I start working soon, its going to be just painful...

I've been using coffee as my wake me up...but also as my low cal snack at night...to eep on my diet...

I never liked coffee until DH made me throw away our disgusting tea kettle...

Luckily, I didn't find it too difficult because coffee doesn't really wake me up. I drink it because I like the taste, so I was able to switch to decaf with no problems. I hear that a cup a day isn't really a big deal, maybe you can drink half regular, half decaf until you get yourself used to the decaf?? Good luck!! I know how difficult it is because I quit smoking...

I still drink coffee- I am drinking it right now . Especially in the AM. My Ob said 3 small cups a day. You can have regular in the AM and decaf or half caf in the afternoon/evening. Who knows, you may even lose your taste for it when you are pg.

You can have coffee. In moderation. I was told two small cups a day. You might find though that it really bothers your belly when pg - or that even the smell of it could send you hurling. I drink a tea in the am - and that's it for me on caffeine. I have a cup of decaf later in the day if I want something warm. My advice? Don't kick it till you have to. When I got two lines on that test I dropped 4 cups of coffee a day, cigarettes and wine in one fell swoop. Things are a lot easier to do without when you are doing it for your baby!

Re: How did you kick coffee?

I'm lucky - I was never a coffee drinker - but I am a tea drinker. I have now switched to decaffeinated tea and haven't noticed a difference. I am going through caffeine withdrawal though. I used to drink 3 or more cans of Coke a day. I have switched to Sprite and hopefully my withdrawal headaches have subsided!!

I hate coffee. I am a tea drinker. I switched to decaf and it doesn't bother me at all.

I hated coffee for so long...but then just got into it this year...

the half decaf thing may work...they make my favorite flavor in decaf as well...I'll have to try it...

I just fear the headaches...

Re: How did you kick coffee?

Actually DH and I just started using the half decaf stuff b/c we were drinking WAY too much caffeine! We like it!

Also - I became SO REPULSED by the smell of coffee during pregnancy that I didn't even miss it during the whole entire 10 months! So, if you cannot give it up before you TTC, you might be forced into it after

This is going to be the toughiest for me
I work a 12 hour overnight shift (8pm-8am) and am so used to drinking like 3-4 cups of coffee a noght to keep myself awake. I also need a cup every morning or else I am a monster
I hope I am one of the 'lucky' ones that becomes repulsed by the smell of coffee
