I'm looking at halls for the first time this weekend and I'm wondering how each of you knew that the hall you chose was the one.... what took your breath away?

yep thats how i knew too... it wasnt even one on my original list...we just happened to be out there, so we took a look... and it was incredible... everything i ever wanted in a reception hall. a little pricey, but completely worth it.

u just know and the banquet manager was soooo nice. i mean who overs their potential clients something to drink. we had gone to 2 other catering halls and nothing. the attention and the architecture of CB is amazing.....

We went to a wedding there and loved it. Before we were even engaged my FH said that we would get married there.
Our BM also offered us a drink. But, it was too early to drink. We were also asked if we wanted a drink at the Fox Hollow...maybe we look like drunks.

I guess a little alcohol makes negotiation that much more difficult. I went with my sister to look at RHs for her wedding a few years ago and while we were at Westbury Manor someone came into the banquet manager's room with chocolate fondue and cookies/fruit. I was like 'sold, you had me at chocolate.' In case you can't tell, I'm a very tough negotiator.

The price!!! Plus, it has the most beautiful gardens without having to spend 200+ p/p at botanical gardens!!!!

It was a mixture of sooo many things for me..... I loved the place, the food, the staff, the gardens, they were willing to give me the food things that I needed and most importantly to FH the price

Tomorrow we're going to Milleridge Cottage, Glen Cove Mansion, Westbury Manor and Bridgeview Yacht Club.
Monday we're going to Tall Grass CC, West Sayville CC and Mansion at Timber Point.
I'm telling myself we're just LOOKING right now. My mom brought up a good point that my church may not marry us on Halloween because it's All Souls Day and the following day is All Saints Day so they may not be able to squeeze us in on that busy weekend.

I looked at 30 halls and none of them took my breath away or shouted 'this is the place'. I picked based on
Location PRICE - especially for time of year and day or evening What they offered me for my money - what's included as well as things thrown in Beautiful area for ceremony on site Reception Room - since I'm having a small wedding it was very difficult to find places that had really nice rooms for us.
I walked out choked up and teary eyed. That's how I knew! We went back a few days later for a tasting and let our deposit.

the room was exactly what i wanted, the grounds are beautiful and the food is delicious...everything i had hoped for (and it was thankfully in our budget!)
