How did you know ...

i went to kleinfelds and first loved a dress there that could be the dress. i had another appt at the wedding salon and it was there that i knew...i had the dress.

you just know when you see it. you can totally picture yourself getting married in that dress. you carry yourself differently. it's cliche...but you do know

I went to DB to look at a dress that I found online and only that dress.
When I got there, I saw a dress and decided to try that one on first. It was beautiful, but I needed to try it in a larger size. So while they pulled the larger size, I tried on additional dresses, including the one I went there for. I hated the one I saw online and the other dresses that I tried on and While I had them on, I kept looking at the first dress I tried. Finally I said I think I need to try that dress on again and changed. I came out of the dressing room and as soon as I saw myself in the mirror, I felt tears starting in my eyes. I was so done. For me, the whole process took 15 minutes. That was in June. Honestly I have not seen a single other dress that I wish I had tried on first. I picked my dress up 2 weeks ago and cried again.
Even know as I type this I get teary eyed thinking about my dress.

It's not corny, it's true. You just know.

it was a different dress. i really liked the first one but i think only bc it was the first dress i had on that i could see myself getting married in. it def wasn't the one

all i can say is that once you do find the dress...stop looking and dont second guess! you'll make yourself nuts!

I don't know if I ever got the 'feeling'. There was no choir of angels, no tears, no nothing like that.

I went to about 6 or 7 different stores and probably tried on over 100 dresses. But when I saw this dress on the rack, my eyes lit up. And then I put it on and I felt so beautiful. I felt like a bride and I just didn't want to take it off.

My mom insisted that we go shopping one more time and so we did, but I chose a place that had that same dress so I could try it on again. I did and I was sold.

However, after purchasing it and not seeing it for months on end, I did have second thoughts and dress envy (with some of the AMAZING dresses on this site, how can you NOT have dress envy?!) but I'd always go back and look at pics from when I purchased my dress and I thought to myself there's probably a thousand gowns out there that would look just as stunning on me as this one, but I loved it. And on the wedding day, there was NO doubt in my mind that I made the right choice! It even looked good when I was trashing it!

Good luck!!!

I almost purchased a dress I loved until I couldnt fit in it....I was close to tears when my salesperson brought me another (which fit) and I fell in love again. This time I was able to picture myself at my wedding in that dress.

I just became so picky I figured out what I liked about some and hated about others and then eventually stumbled upon 'THE DRESS'!!! you will too..just try to figure out each aspect of the dress that you want, style beading or not, the color of it etc.

I didn't get 'the feeling' but it had all the elements I wanted and I felt good in it. You have to stop looking eventually or you'll drive yourself crazy!

Re: How did you know ...

I went to DB first just to get a feel for the style of dress that looked nice on me. I originally thought I wanted a trumpet dress or something very fitted, but once I put them on, they looked like crap!! So then the girl just started pulling a couple of different options for me. I tried one on and absolutely loved it, I didn't want to take it off. I ended up going to 3 other bridal salons and tried on 30 more dresses, most way more expensive and fancy than DBs, but i always kept comparing them to the dress at DB. Thats how I knew that was the one.

edited for early morning spelling

When I tried on 'THE DRESS' I cried like a little baby.. lol... The lady who helped me put the dress on needed to give me a box of tissues...

There were no tears involved with me and now AH HA moment.
I went to 10 stores and tried on about 92 dresses. I kept going back to my dress. When I put it on I would think about the day and how I would look with my hair all done and my makeup done. I would think about FH's face when he saw me in it. It had all the elements I was looking for. I love love love my dress. I cant wait until I can bring it h ome.

I tried on a ton of dresses but always had my eye on this one and finally found it in a salon in brooklyn. I told my mom I am not making any decisions until I tried that dress on. Once I saw it in person I loved it even more than the picture and once it was on me I was sold. I loved every single thing/detail about it and it was exactly was I was looking for. I did shop once more afterward but nothing close to compared to it, and my mother knew it so we went back and ordered it.

I didn't cry or have any kind of moment but you couldn't wipe the smile off my face. I actually didn't take the dress of during the whole purchasing process afterward (I was sitting down filling out paperwork for the dress still wearing the dress LOL).

I didnt have that 'moment' either. Which is funny because I cry at the drop of a hat. haha
I found my dress online actually and then when I went to try it on no one carried it! Everyone had a similar dress by the same designer. I loved the similar dress but still had the other one in the back of my mind. I hunted it down, tried it on and just knew it was the one. No tears and no 'OMG this is the one'.. just yep this is it!
But my best friend and my mom came with me and they were crying so that helped make it 'the moment'.

I knew my dress was 'the one' when I didn't want to take it off, lol. I was strolling around the bridal salon for over an hour in it.......sitting in it, dancing around, etc, lol. I was so upset when I had to take it off, and I couldn't stop thinking about it.

I had an image in my head of something mermaid fit, lots of lace & sparkle, sweetheart neckline. Something glamorous and fabulous, and a little vintage. Pearls, crystals, sequins. No pouf.

I tried on a like 60 dresses. I finally found one that I really like and was like 'OK this is it. Let me bring my mother tomorrow and show her and I'll take it!' I was so excited. I went with my mom and I had the dress on... She sees another dress out of the corner of her eyes and says 'What about this?' I put it on--- it was my vision to a T!

Moral of the story: close your eyes and imagine what you want to get married in. Imagine yourself walking down the isle. Now go find THAT dress! It's out there!

And when you go looking, let the sales person know what you want, your budget, etc. GOOD LUCK!!!
