How did you know what brand of things to register for?
There are a million food processors, blenders, toasters - my head is spinning! I am a bit of a psycho with research and want to make sure I am registering for the best of everything (within a reasonable price range.) How did you know which brands to go with for what? I am going to be on consumer reports and epinions for a year if I obsessively research every appliance!!
Thanks...

My Dad is a subcriber to consumer reports and got a great little book called the 2005 buying guide and it has everything in there from small appliances to dishwashers, etc. Maybe try ebay or half.com.

I agree, that's how we are choosing some things.
You can also get it online, Costco or BJ's has a subscription.

There are some things that I just picked based on my opinion. I happen to like Circulon - have a few pieces and my mom used it so I am partial to that brand. My FMIL makes awesome coffee and recommended the farberware perculator. So I also kept things like that in mind.

I chose cuisinart and matched everything to that. The blender looked nice so I figured everything else had to be good.

talk to some of the sales staff - the ones at fortunoff were really helpful. . . explain to them what your needs are. Do you love to cook? Do you cook all the time? Do you cook once a week? Do you only cook for the holidays? Do you microwave more than you cook, etc? They can help you out.

Yes, also ask friends who are already married. I brought my MOH along to BB&B. I had no idea which gadgets I might use and which I wouldn't. My FMIL was helpful too. I didn't think I'd ever use a crockpot but she was right. I highly suggest Consumer Reports. Definitely invest in the 2005 Buying Guide, particularly if you are getting a house. You will need so much.

My FI loves to research this type of stuff so I left it up to him (used COnsumer Reports and other online sources)
