How did you or will you pick photos?

We have way too many photos from the wedding and its becoming so hard to pick 50 of them for the album. I dont really want any more than 50 b/c to tell you the truth in the past I didnt enjoy looking at other people's albums that had in ALOT of photos..so I want to do just enough to tell the story..but its so hard

I spent three hours at the studio last night picking out the pictures for my album! I don't even know how many pictures it ended up being but it's going to be 60 pages! YIKES!

What I found that made it very easy was to arrange your pictures in categories and then have the pictures tell the tale of the day. I had a pile of me alone, me and DH, ceremony, reception, family shots, etc. and then picked my favorites from there. I have over 700+ proofs and was able to pick my album pictures in less than an hour. I dreaded the task and put it off til the last minute but found it easier than I thought it would be once I organized the pictures this way.

I also didn't want to go over or over by too much because I felt it was a waste and I wouldn't look at it that much (which a year and half later - I can say I really don't look at my album too much beyond showing friends who ask to see it).

When I went to met with my photogpraher she helped arrange them better and said I actually needed more because I really cut them - but I met in the middle and went over my limit by only a couple. That meeting was over 2.5 hours - because she looked over the pictures with a fine tooth comb to make sure they were ok.
