How did you pick the color of your bridesmaid dresses? Was it you or your bridesmaids? I would love to have pink. That is my all time favorite color. But some of them are giving me a hard time telling me the color does not look good them. I would not go with a pepto pink but a light pink.
Or I was thinking of going with a pale yellow/ivory color. Did anyone else have this problem?

Re: How did you pick the color?
if that's the color you love, find a sample, and try it on all of them... that way if it looks great, you know it & so do they & no one can fight it.... if not, go for another color.
i know some of my girls were putting up a stink with the lavendar, but once they put on the dress.... they couldn't fight it! it flattered all 5 girls!!!!!!

Re: How did you pick the color?
FI and I both love the color purple and we wanted those colors for our wedding. My girls all knew we loved purple and they started looking at different shades of purple (lilac, plum, victorian lilac) and emailing me dresses they liked.
then we went and tried on the color and it looked good on them.

Re: How did you pick the color?
I am having a hard time trying to decide on a color also. My favorite color is red and at first I didn't think I should put the girls in red since I am a May bride. But then a lot of people told me that anything goes these days and to do what I want. I am not sure how all the girls feel about this...I have 7 so I am sure someone will want something else. A few of them have no problem wearing red. I still haven't decided yet.
Ultimately do what you want since it is your wedding.

Re: How did you pick the color?
I would find some nice dresses and try to convince them how great they look in that color. FH and I love blue - and I wanted to pick a dress the girls could wear more than once since they were expensive - so we went with Navy blue - and the girls can't wait to wear it - they say it is a dress that they can wear to a new years party down the road or a fomal as well.

Re: How did you pick the color?
i have no clue what color i want. people tell me to find a dress first that they all love then to focus on the color. get them to try a dress on in the color pink u like. thats the only way you'll all be able to tell what actually looks good on them. good luck!

Re: How did you pick the color?
i kept gravitating towards pics of red/maroon and white weddings, so i opted for those colors for ours. Then we worked on a dress that would look good on anyone(my party is every shape and size)

It was a color that I loved, it seemed fitting for the season (winter) and it looked good on the various colorings of my bridesmaids.

Re: How did you pick the color?
While doing a project with the kids at my job, I saw the most beautifully colored feather and I knew it was going to be the color of my bridesmaid dresses. When I saw it I almost cried and one of the children came to give me and hug and said that it will be okay.
If you like pink try to go with a color that is a shimmery pink (not sure if those are the right words) but my cousin used pink and it was beautiful and elegant. Also it fits villa lombardi. Good Luck Planning

Re: How did you pick the color'
I'm leaning towards pink too. And I didn't pick it, my florist did, but now I love it. My BMs are just going to have to deal with it. I had to buy a yellow BM gown once - and I look like crap in yellow, but I just had to deal. I am probably going to put my MOH in a different shade, because she really does look bad in pale pink. but the rest of them will look fine.

Re: How did you pick the color'
I picked Victorian Lilac as my color. Lavander is my favorite color! Not to mention that my dress has embroydered lavander roses on it. So what would match better than that? I have 12 girls, and believe me, there is no way you can make everyone happy. So, I picked the color, and they picked out seperates, everyone gets a different top. That seemed to make everyone happy. It is your wedding, and your pictures! Do what you want, not everyone can get their way. Good Luck!

Re: How did you pick the color?
I am picking the color - black...and letting my BMs pick their dress. The only 'criteria' I have for them is that they are all the same length (I am so loving the tea length/city length dresses) and similar fabric. I don't want 1 to be shiney and the rest in a crepe.
While I think it's nice for the BMs to have a say - since it's a lot of money to spend for a dress they will 99% of the time, not wear ever again, I do think the bride should have final say. I agree with the other suggestions to have them all try the color on and see if you even like the way they all look in it. You might change your mind...or reaffirm your decision!
Good luck!

Re: How did you pick the color?
Iwas conflicted on what color I wanted. But when I saw the dress that we picked in a really pretty pink I knew for sure that was the color.

Re: How did you pick the color?
I knew I wanted green so I told my sister (MOH) you pick out the dress and what ever shade of the green the designer carries is what the color will be. So my sister picked out the dress (After Six) and their green color is Kiwi. So my girls are wearing Kiwi green.

Re: How did you pick the color?
I was just at a wedding where the BM's were in light pink - absolutely beautiful.
Go for it if it's what you want and the girls don't look dreadful! Remember, you want them to be comfortable so they are smiling and having a blast!
