We're having a really hard time with this.... FH has a million AMEX points we want to use so I'm trying not to call a TA plus we've always booked our own vacations since we travel pretty often... there are just so many we can't choose!!!!!!!!!!!

DH's cousin is a travel agent and travels all the time, so I asked her to recommend different resorts in different locations. She sent me prices on places that she's only been to and from there we narrowed it down

i used travel tom he helped us narrow it down to 2 and then we finally chose sandals st lucia where do you wanna go?

we used my parents timeshare... since it was so cheap we just picked the best rated hotel we could find

I knew I wanted to go to Fiji so I researched a bunch of hotels and then spoke with an awesome TA. He is an American but he has lived in Fiji for years. He sent me pricing on a few diff resorts & what was included and we went from there. Let me know if you want his info and if you want me to send you prices.

I'll have to stalk her and ask... I'm also waiting for Christine to put her review up (unless I missed it, I have to check) and MongieToBe sent me some info on Fiji... I just look at all of these places and I want to stay at all of them!!!!!

I used a TA for Hawaii, I gave her my budget and she was able to book everything for us including a car rental and travel between two islands. I did a lot of research though on trip advisor for hotels and also asked friends who had gone there for their honeymoon. We are staying at the Ritz in Maui and the Hyatt in Kuaui, I can send you my itinerary if you want, it has pricing for the trip too.

we travel a lot too, but have hilton points so always stay there or do a cruise..since we knew nothing about europe we ended up going to a ta..maybe you could visit one and get some ideas without booking?

sooo i actually originally wanted fiji but when we saw it was like a 20 or so hour flight we were both like ehh no. i get uneasy flying so for hawaii being like 10 or so hours is already bad enough but i can't fly for 20..i wish i could though fiji looks amazing!!
so i we originally wanted to do 3 islands in hawaii....Oahu, Maui, and Kaui...and my friend works at the Hyatt in DC and said the hyatts in hawaii are really nice. etc. I know there are higher level hotels that them but they are still really nice so when we contacted travel tom we asked about the hyatt in all three locations just for pricing purposes. We got a decent quote back but then after debating we decided that in 11 days we thought it was too rushed to do 3 islands. some ppl do it but we just felt like we'd get to an island and then have to pack up so we cut out Kaui and decided to do the 2 islands. We stuck with the hyatts and got a good deal with breakfasts included and a night or 2 free since we are staying in the hyatts in both locations. Plus since my friend works there (she can't get us free rooms like she could in all other hyatts bc hawaii is excluded) but she said she plans to put in so that we get 'surprises'. I am sure she will try to get us room upgrades and like fun honeymoon extras.
so long story short haha...we only looked into those hotels but felt it was best but our travel agent deffintely seemed knowledgeable about hawaii so if u wanted to quote other places he would def be able to help.
my crazy work wedding stalker booked her hawaii hm after me and booked the hyatt in oahu and then the ritz in maui and it wasnt much more....its just on a different part of the island. so that another place to look into.

we're going to hawaii - a few days on oahu and then a cruise. i've been to oahu, so were are staying at outrigger waikiki beach because that is where i stayed last time - that was a no brainer for me. then we are doing a cruise, do i didn't have a choice there. we are also doing disney and vegas as part of the honeymoon - we are staying at Grand Floridian and that's because it's such a beautiful hotel and the Bellagio in vegas, and again we picked that because of it's reputation. i don't know if i made any sense or was any help to you

Travel agents travel a lot, and know the best time to go to places.
I also like to go on TRIPADVISOR.COM there are thousands of reviews of hotels on there, especially all -inclusive resorts.
