So I am a generally healthy person, I really do eat healthfully (probably too much) and I try to go to the gym (but have been really lax since the wedding planning).
I need an idea to jump start my weight loss. I was thinking of doing WW but FH says its a waste of money because we already know how to eat healthy and exercise, I just choose not to.
Anyone have any good recommendations? I am thinking if I can do something for like 1 week and see a little bit of a result, it will give me some motivation to continue.
I want to loose at least 10 pounds before the wedding in Feb and get back the muslce tone I used to have.

Re: How did you start your weight loss?
I replaced my breakfast with a slim fast shake everyday. I used to eat a bagel EVERYDAY!!! (well now I do again...lol) but that helped me out a lot! XOXOXO Kitty

I replaced my regular lunches with just a small garden salad (not even any dressing) and granola bars.
I literally eat the same thing my bunny eats!!!!LOL

Oh Kitty, I miss that bagel I used to have every morning too!!! My best advice to jump start weight loss is to pick a program to follow and stick with it. I love WW and it has been very good to me. Now that I've pretty much lost as much of the weight as I could..I hired a personal trainer for now until the wedding to tone up!

Re: How did you start your weight loss?
I made little changes that add up over time. I switched to whole foods for breakfast and lunch ONLY. For snacks I like a banana, it fills me up, also 100% frozen fruit bars and light buttered pop corn.
I changed my pasta to whole wheat pasta, white bread to rye bread ( the least surgur ) and white rice to whole grain. real milk to soy milk, and no more surgury cereal.
NO FAST FOOD. I like to go to amazon cafe, for the smoothie and ceaser wraps. Subway I will do the veggie patties.
I changed red meat to turkey meat. I added lots of diff types of beans to my diet. Its healthy and fills you up. You can also add it to your salads.
My dressings for my salad are balsamic viniger and oil. NO more blue cheese or mayo dressings. No more creamy soup, oil low sodium broth soups.
I always keep, snacks in my car just incase. Kashi Bars in raspberry are great and they are 100% natural
Lots of water.
Im a health NUT so please ask me any questions you need to ask!!! Good luck

Re: How did you start your weight loss?
well for me i just said OK enough is enough and got into a strict diet...just keep eating healthy and work out at least 3x a week. When i started though i was working out 4-5x a week. Honestly its pretty simple, like you said when it comes down to it people know what is healthy and what is not, and the key is to keep a routine of working out, even if you do 30 mins a day 3-5x a week you will see results. You said you want to lose 10 pounds so doing 30 mins a day would work out fine for you.
The main thing i see is that we all have to understand that it doesn't happen overnight and you can't look for a quick fix.

Re: How did you start your weight loss?
I just started the online program with weight watchers and I also felts that I know how to eat healthy. What I wasn't realizing was portion control which is why I don't think I was loosing weight. WW will help with portion control.

Wow.. I so couldve written this! i have been lowcarbing for years.. and go up and down and decided I really wanted to eat normal and healthy. Ive made every change like you.. dont eat anything White: sugar, flour, pasta, rice... Ive lost a few pds.. and I bet it will cont' . I snack on fruit and love the bite sized rice cakes in ranch for my 'chips'.
btw.. I USED to have a bagel with cream cheese and pesto every morning.. I miss it! .. But.. I will treat myself to one soon.
Im also thinking about joining curves. They have a diet program.. and of course the 30 minute circuit.. helps me be accountable.
Good luck everyone!

I'm in complete agreement. Just find something you're comfortable with and stick with it. I've lost 10lbs since April by sticking with the gym at least 3x/week, no fast food, no eating past 8 and smaller portions.

Re: How did you start your weight loss?
i just went grocery shopping today and i bought lots of healthy things. liiiike i got eggs to make egg whites for breakfast, i got blueberries for a snack instead of crap, i got some watermelon and canteloupe...just go buy some healthy things and get psyched about it...that's what im trying to do:( AND vow to only drink water and unsweetened iced tea...believe it or not, cutting out soda and fruit juices saves you a LOT of calories.

Re: How did you start your weight loss?
Im at a total weight loss of 20 lbs over the course of the year, well I actually lost 17 in 2 months last fall, and just kept if off. Now I have lost another 3. I would like to lose 10 more before my wedding next May. I used to be a personal trainer so lifting and running isn't a problem. For me, portion control is key. Just write down everything you eat for a week and you will see how many extra little snacks add up. I eat almost whatever I want on Sat. but the rest of the week I try to stick to whole wheat and veggies and protein like chicken and fish. Moderation is important, and remember its worth it in the end! Weigh yourself once a week

Re: How did you start your weight loss?
I found that getting to workout with a friens is a great way to jumpstart...... On the weekends sometimes we go for a walk or rollerblading, it helps me to keep on track for the week!

Re: How did you start your weight loss?
i think portion control is the best way. You still can eat what you want but just less. Water is also very important . Eating at the same time each day is key too. My co-worker went from a size 12 to a 2 by portion control, excercise and eating at the same time each day up to 6 small meals for a steady fuel to the body.

Re: How did you start your weight loss?
I can not stress enough how important it is to eat many small meals throughout the day.
I eat 6 small meals.. Each 2.5 - 3hrs apart.
No fast food, only complex cards, no or very little dairy, no or very low sodium, no or very low sugar. Only complex carbs AND ALOOOOOTTTTT OF WATER!!!!!!!!!!
AND excercise at least 3 x a week....
Vitamins and fish oils are super important as well...
