How did/do you give out favors?

I am going to use photo coasters as favors. How did you give your favors out -- I don't want to use them as place cards. Do you put it on their place setting, or have them get them as they leave?
If they are on the place setting, do they becoming annoying being there in the way all night?
Also, is it one per couple or per person? I am leaning towards per person, because I do have a number of single friends coming, and if we do leave them at the place setting, I cannot predict where couples vs. singles will sit within each table.
I'd love to hear what you did/plan on doing!

You could either put the favors at each placesetting OR have a large table placed at the entrance with all of them on it.

ETA: If you are doing one favor for couple, I'd recommend putting them at the actual placesettings. You wouldn't want everyone taking one.

if youre doing coasters, one per household might be a good choice. this way couples get 1 set and singles get 1 set too.
