So I have an A list... what do you do make the RSVP date alot earlier and then send out the B list right after that? I know I ask such dumb questions...
Not a dumb question! I've heard of people doing different RSVP dates, but then sometimes they find out that were b-listed that way and I don't like to hurt anyone's feelings. I'd just make your RSVP date as late as possible and then start sending out the b-list ASAP after you get enough no responses.

I have one RSVP date for everyone. I will be sending out A list invites in the middle of March, giving them 6 weeks to respond. Then as 'no' responses come in, I will send B-list in April, giving them 3-4 weeks to respond.
