I am inviting someone who is a doctor, but her husband isn't. How do I address the invite? Is it Mr. and Doctor John Smith? Or is there some other way to do this? I know there was a post about this recently, I just can't seem to find it. Thanks!

Re: How do I address this?
Jennbaby is right, the person with the professional title always comes first, even if it is a woman. So, Doctor Jane Smith and Mr. Joe Smith is correct. Edited to spell out doctor, since that's the correct way.

Re: How do I address this?
From theknot.com Q. What if the woman is a doctor and the man is not? Does the woman's name come first because of her title?
A. Yes, the spouse with the professional title is listed first. Outer envelope: 'Dr. Kate Randolph Mr. Brian Randolph.' Or, 'Dr. Kate Randolph and Mr. Brian Randolph' (if it fits on one line). The inner envelope would read: 'Dr. Randolph and Mr. Randolph' or 'Dr. and Mr. Randolph.'
However, I read in an etiquette book that doctor should be spelled out. I guess it can be done either way.
