How do I address this invitation?

How do I address this invitation?

According to invitation ettiquete, we're supposed to write out the names of numbered streets, so 1st Street is written as First Street.

What if the address is 269th Street? Is it written as Two Hundred Sixty Ninth Street? Does a hyphen go anywhere?

Another example: 121st Street. Is it One Hundred Twenty First Street or One Hundred Twenty-First Street?

All of my cousins live in Queens and all have these kind of street addresses. Please advise.

I happen to think that there are times when etiquette goes too far; this is one of those times. I think writing out a number in the hundreds is ridiculous. My mailman is the laziest person on earth and I can see my invitation enver arriving if I were to write out the house number in that manner.

I say write it with numbers.

I think a compromise is good...one or two digit numbers get written out, others get numbers!

I say go with the numbers. I have too many guests in Manhattan to sit there writing out Fifty Seventh Street, etc. etc.

i agree - to write those numbers would quickly get out of hand!! i say write out the two-digit numbers, but any more than that gets abbreviated! jmo...

Ok, I checked verseit.com. According to their invitation etiquette, mind you etiquette varies, only the number 1 is written out (i.e., One Sesame Street). Anything besides ONE is written with numbers (i.e., 2 Sesame Street).

I did not write my street names out and I addressed my envelopes today. I was afraid they might be delayed in the mail if I wrote everything out.
What most people don't realize is, the majority of the time, a computer reads the address and sorts it accordingly. Often an address that is written in a very fancy font, etc. can be delayed if not hand sorted.

All of you make very good points. Sometimes we just have to chuck etiquette rules out the window! Take that Emily Post!

I am going to write '269th Street' and do that on all of the 2 and 3 digit streets. THANKS!
