I have full glass coverage on my policy. DO I just go to an auto glass place and have my insurance card with me?

Re: How do I get my windshield replaced?
i'd call the ins co first and ask them what the process is...there may only be certain places you can go to

Some places are 'pro' shops for particular insurance companies - if you call your insurance co., they will send you to a place that they deal with.

Do you have Geico Insurance?
I'm not sure about other companies, but my parents have Gieco & they just called them & thr next day somene came to the house & fixed it right there.
Last summer my mother had a rock kick up from a truck & hit her front windsheild & a couple of weeks ago a rock kicked up from the lawn mower & hit her car's passenger side window while the car was in the driveway.

I just had mine replaced on Monday. I called my insurance company (Geico) and they set up the whole thing for me.

Re: How do I get my windshield replaced?
Sort of related to this - if you call to have your windshield fixed, does it make your insurance go up like if you were in an accident or got a ticket? I have a small crack that I am afraid will get bigger, but I don't want to have to end up paying more.

I think there is a company called Safelite that comes to you and fixes it... but go through your ins co. They'll have someone.
And stop washing your windshield with a baseball bat.

My guess would be no, only b/c my mother had it done twice & I think she would have mentioned it the second time ( as in, Oh no, my insureence is goign to go up AGAIN!), but she said it was no big deal, so I am assuming no.

Glass claims tend to not go against your record with the insurance co. Having said that, if it happens a bunch of times and you have other claims, it may. I think it depends on your whole history.

Glass claims do not effect your rates, etc. I made sure of this...
