how do i go about looking for a dj?

i have the RH booked, i even have my photo and video booked...my next priority is the dj. unfortunately, this is by far the hardest thing i've had to research. there are so many cheeseballs out there. i have a hard time filtering them out. does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about looking for or booking a dj?

criteria:
1.nothing over the top..just play the music and make announcements.
2.no need for give-aways or prizes
3.receptive to playing specific tunes
4.affordable

any help would be appreciated!

I wanted the same thing.

Go to Vinny from High Voltage. He is very good and my DOC highly recommended him. She used him for her own wedding and loved him.

I just booked Tommy's Tunes and I have been to about 3 weddings w/ them. I think they are great.

We booked www.djgaza.com on the spot...

definitely cheese-free. We love him becuase he lacks the glitz of many DJs, and will never play the electric slide or chicken dance..... His taste in music is pretty modern and alternative... He actually has most of his experience in the club circuit in NYC.

he is about $800 for 4 hours!
