How do I search for Crime statistics on towns?

How do I search for Crime statistics on towns?

A while ago when I was looking I found an area that gave you the crime statistics on towns. Obviously as low of a crime rate as possible is desirable when chosing a new town. Does anyone have any idea where I can get this info. I can't remember when I saw it. I suppose I can just call the police department and inquire about towns.

Any help is appreciated.

Go to www.mlsli.com and click on the left where it says neighborhood info. then enter your address or town and you will get a report.
